Hi,

I live in East Meadow. East Meadow Avenue is a VERY busy road. If you have children, I cannot see them playing out front at all. It is a commercially zoned area that has many businesses on it. Good luck! There are other homes available for sale in East Meadow. I'm not sure what type of home you are looking for or what you are looking to spend, but I have an aunt who is selling in East Meadow. DM me if you are interested.

Thaty is a very busy road and seems only to get busier. IMO find a quietier street. there is also area of that street that have mixed zoning ( drives me nuts) so check into that.

Have you looked in Bellmore. There is an area offf Newbridge road by Mepham HS that have small capes on small lots.........nice place to buy a starter home. Only issue is there is no room to put on an addition if you needed to.

If your still looking in East Meadow, try to avoid Levitt homes, if you can.

Good luck!

The short answer, house built post war with no basement, boiler typically in the kitchen with a buried oil tank.

Default For those who may not be familiar with East Meadow

For those who may not be familiar with East Meadow:

East Meadow is a hamlet (an unincorporated area) in the northeast section of the Town of Hempstead, in the central part of Nassau County, along the Hempstead/North Hempstead town line.

Beginning on the north and moving in a clockwise direction, the Hamlet of East Meadow in the Town of Hempstead is bordered on the north by the Village of Westbury in the Town of North Hempstead (the Hempstead/North Hempstead town line); on the east by the Hamlet of Salisbury and the Hamlet of Levittown; on the south by the Hamlet of North Bellmore and the Hamlet of North Merrick; and, on the west by the Hamlet of Uniondale and the Hamlet of East Garden City.

The Hamlet of East Meadow has a different border than does the "East Meadow, NY 11554" ZIP Code postal zone (a place can be in the Hamlet of East Meadow and have other than an "East Meadow, NY 11554" mailing address): there are a few places in the Hamlet of East Meadow that have a "Westbury, NY 11590" mailing address.

For a good set of town-by-town maps showing all the villages and hamlets in each of LI's 13 towns (3 in Nassau County and 10 in Suffolk County): //www.city-data.com/forum/long-...-resource.html

Wink price range?

The Barnum Woods section of East Meadow is really nice but defintely over your $400,000 price range.
East Meadow is huge and also covers areas north of Hempstead Turnpike. There are some very nice split level homes west of Newbridge Road north of Hempstead Turnpike. I'd also try the area north of North Jerusalem Road off Bellmore Road near the elementary school (sorry, can't remember the name of it).
There are some very nice capes there and it has tons of kids.
