I think it was over a year ago or two ago there was a small ranch that sold in Dedham for over a million. Not sure why it's so unbelievable. Everyone here thought it was ridiculous for the most part. Dedham is kind of close to Boston I guess but as far as I can see that's all it has going for itself. The point I tried to make is that Duxbury is a much nicer town than Dedham (I mean it's on the beach, has better schools, town forests, rich history and beautiful homes) and for 850k someone got a very nice house that happens to be near some electric lines. I would feel that's a better deal than even a 800k ranch in Dedham. But yes people are spending more than that in Dedham.

Also prices have come down somewhat compared to two years ago. Getting a nice house for 850k in a nice town isn't easy to do these days

It was definitely cherry-picking, but it doesn't matter. msRB's point was that the Duxbury power line house is a better value. I strongly disagree with that. And there's no point in pointing out the negatives of Dedham and the positives of Duxbury. That Duxbury house will make its occupants sick. It has zero value as far as I'm concerned.

lol ok. It WILL make it's occupants sick? Please explain how and when this will happen.

Your hatred of a house that you didn't buy near electric lines is odd to say the least. Or you're just looking for your daily stupid argument.

I actually just looked up the owner and she has a pretty extensive background in pharma. I guess she's willing to take her chances.

I don't have time to hate houses, people, or anything. That's your thing.

Quote of the day: "Maybe the people who bought the house already have cancer."

Nope, instead people are choosing to pay ~$530K for doozy ranchers with purple kitchens in towns like Randolph.

I think people are choosing more than one option when it comes to buying a home these days. I just think redplum is being overly judgemental of a nice house in a nice town that happens to be next to high voltage wires. Many people would never dream of living in Randolph.

If you have $6M this new listing just came on in Weston. Backyard is nice....but this property just doesn't have that wow factor I'd expect for a $6M price tag. https://www.realtor.com/realestatean...=srp-list-card

I've repeatedly said it's a nice house. And I don't have any problem with Duxbury. It's those power lines...

I wouldn't buy a home near power lines myself but apparently that person did. I saw they put 500K down too so they have plenty of equity should they decide to sell and have to take a hit on the sales price due to the location being close to power lines.
