Because the non-Blacks don't want any part of it.

It's called black beach weekend because the event was originally coordinated as a weekend for black college spring breakers back in the 80's. You could actually credit 2-Live Crew as some of the early participants. After it's peak in 2003 and heading to the end of it's run in Daytona, years of negative happenings, legalized price gouging and other tactics used by the city to clamp down on the event led to it's demise. Promoters (being denied permits) and such shifted to Miami (unofficially of course). This is why the event is called Black Beach Weekend.

It's the rift raft that show up that give events a bad name and that's usually the case no matter the locale....

Not true, I'm hispanic and I live an urban lifestyle, and I'm not black.

Just how they target BET ( BLACK entertainment television) they play hip hop, and urban culture music

Blacks aren't the only people who listen to hip hop and have urban lifestyle. The channel should be re-named Urban Entertainment TV not BET.

Although I do like how now they call the event Urban Beach weekend instead of just "BLACK beach weekend" now.

Nice informative history post. Yeah, I'd think 2 Live Crew were the early pioneers of this weekend. Yeah, it used be in Daytona Beach, it would make sense that it would take place in Daytona, where there is a nice beach and a HBCU. Did they have Spring Bling this year?

I understand the remainder of your post but what is urban lifestyle?

Another euphemism for black. This includes (but not limited to) the inner city, hip hop, ghetto, swag, black, or just about anything else you can think of when referring to a predominatly African-American group and/or event. On the flip side, you could also categorize urban lifestyle as anything popular or prevalent to non Anglo-Saxons. Depends on your world view.
