What has been said?

I asked what hip hop culture is, then you give me refernce from some non scholarly source that does not state anything about what it is, other than trying to convince people it is more than music. The stated description is it is the "way we act, the our lifestyle, our fashion, the culture of the streets", yet who is "we" and "our", and again, no desciption of what this lifestyle is, these acts are, fashion, and this street culture is.

The of course their is the racist tone of "The uniter of minorities", but yet no description of these minorities and what the terminology is derived from as who is a minority, legally and mathematically, depends on where a person is.

Then the rest of your provided definitions state it is music and dancing, yet every genre of music has dancing to it. The gives an extremely vague one sentence explanation that it is more than music, but does not explain one thing what it is.

You for some reason rather not explain it, even retrieving info off the Internet rather than use your own words.

I still asked for what an urban lifestyle is, you have stated that hip hop is part of it, and a person can live in the city but not live an urban lifestyle. You really have not explained at all what an urban lifestyle is.

I already explained to you what hip hop/urban culture is, you just don't get it, it's like hammering a nail into concrete, it's hard to explain something to someone that is asking for scholorly articles, why don't you just attend urban beach weekend, and do your own research on what the hip hop culture is.

^^ Ah, the patience and clear articulation of today's youth. Reminds me of..................................
us 30 years ago when we were in our teens explaining why [our inexplicable preferences] were so important.

It is ok Surfside, you will find out what we mean and wonder what is wrong with today's young people tomorrow.

Hip Hop is an urban culture lifestyle, that's as simple as it can be explained.

Now, you want to send the guy to get shot? I'm only kidding..

I love how you're both playing semantics. Very interesting and engaging.

I'm in a good mood..

Enjoy your Memorial Day ladies and gents!

Miami Beach has to be grateful, as a real cultural movement would never want to go to that overpriced, strip of sand with bad roads and broken sidewalks. You will never see a "classical music weekend" in that area.

South Beach is considered a "party-town" with all the night clubs, beach, etc. A classical music festival would probably be more appropriate somewhere else anyways. Miami Beach has enough events that attract diverse groups of people that do not bring the baggage Urban Beach Weekend does. I don't think Miami Beach has to be grateful for Urban Beach Weekend at all. As overpriced as South Beach is with it's run down roads, broken sidewalks, and whatever else, it is still very very far from being a "ghetto".

It might not be a classical "festival" but the Wallcast concerts at the New World Center are free and well attended. The New World Center has been a great addition to Miami Beach

Great post Aggrocrag! That is an amazing facility. Don't forget Art Basel is held in South Beach, Miami Music Week and even Ultra don't bring in the issues the Urban Beach Weekend brings.

I am happy to hear about the increased police presence, but I do think it will probably lead to riots and even more violence......
