A rezon came out for 4701 Halls Mill from R-1 to I-1 in hopes of building a new warehouse

Another company has leased 38,500 sq ft of warehousing in Theodore @ 5235 Kooiman Rd

That 64 Townhomes would make I believe about 1,300 new housing units being introduced within city limits since the beginning of the year, I believe the city is now beating out the county in new housing construction planned

If all that comes to pass, how can the population of Mobile and Mobile County keep dropping for each census estimate?

This is new for Mobile, it’s been a while since Mobile proper has had so money housing projects

For reference the net change in housing units between 2010 and 2020 in the city was less than 100. Granted the city purge: old affordable and regular housing units in the latter half of the 2010s but still, very little housing projects happened. Post pandemic era has seen a sharp increase in housing projects in county and city.

I remember seeing a website that predicts city populations, its predict that 2022 would see a slight increase to the Mobile city population for the first time in forever

Interesting we got a Mystery PUD for 975 Schillingers Rd (right next to Aldi’s), no information other than the fact that it will be a mixed use development featuring residential and commercial development

It will be called Brewer Center

That property is the old Brewer Center property, so that is why you see that name.

Also have to factor in that baby boomers are a huge demographic that’s now in old age. They typically have 1-2 people per household instead of 2-5 that a typical family would have. That, and nationally, birth rates are declining, so households that would’ve normally had 6 people back in the 70s only have 3-4 people in them today. My dad is in his mid 50s and he has 6 brothers and sisters. Rarely would you see someone with 7 children today

We got a PUD for a new 74 lot subdivision on Somerby Drive. Was an old PUD from 2018 but looks like new developers and a new name called Berwick Park, construction expected to start immediately after approval

Man I'm so happy to see new housing within the city limits. It's always been out in the county. This is good for Mobile.
