That is unclear at this point. As has been mentioned elsewhere, the city has hired someone to master plan it all.

I don't know if it will happen. There are way too many cooks in the kitchen when it comes to Africatown. I see a lot of fighting about this in the future. I don't know if I would be willing to investing my money in this area right now.

Would be cool if it happened though. Plus, those 600 jobs would most likely not reside in Africatown. Not sure they have to worry about the current residents being pushed out. Sounds like they just found some cheap land. There are much better locations for a movie studio in Mobile than that neighborhood. But, then again, I am not in the movie industry.

There's certainly a lot happening

I don't think its a bad place to put a movie studio, Cheap land, close to interstate, in a very historical area

It will be located along the northern part of Africatown and the south side of Papermill road, and would include the property with a massive warehouses to the west of Africatown, Replacing warehouses with a movie studio sounds like a win to me. Not to mention the impact it would have in the greater Mobile Area, we don't have a movie studio and so this would be a great way to diverse Mobile's economy

In other news looks like construction has resumed on an unfinished subdivision with 3 building permits coming out today on Sollie Road. Longleaf Subdivision is a 52 lot subdivision that began construction just after the great recession and only 2 houses built before work stopped and a few years later a single houses was added. The developers (Lynn Nolen Construction) have also bought the land east of the subdivision (34 acres in total), presumably what would've been the next phase of the neighborhood

The new USA College of Medicine is huge! It really is impressive how far South Alabama has come over the last 20 years. I also heard that the current Medical building will be demolished for a future construction project, when the new building opens.

I saw a master plan with the new construction as pictured and plans for the demolition of the current college of medicine. That demolition leaves a large space, so they will have plenty of opportunity there.

the article from Fox 10 said it's going to be the tallest structure on campus. That's goign to transform that side of campus. Those ugly Alpha buildings needed to go anyway
