This link says the SALP should have a final employment of between 5,000 and 10,000 people.

Nice, it says SALP plans to break ground on phase 2 in 4 years…. I hope they put a little pep in their step then, they broke ground 2 years ago and they only completed one warehouse out of like 10 for phase 1

But anyways looking a google earth, it looks like ground work is beginning for the Big Daddy 1,000,000+ sqft warehouse, and the second warehouse should be done with construction in the next few months

Looks like the 2024-2027 ALDOT TIP came out. A ton of project coming for Mobile and Baldwin Counties….. let’s just say we are gonna have interstate construction for a long time to come lol, but will get to those later; but anyways, I wanted to focus on the highway 158 projects. Looks like there are 3 projects that will start between now and 2025 for highway 158 that revolve around Schillinger to Lott Roads, if I’m interpreting the projects correctly it basically calls for the expansion from 2 lanes to 4 lanes from Schillinger to Lott road on 158 and a new interchange on Schillinger (presumably will remain a trumpet interchange as previously planned) it will cost a total of around $44 million. Though there are a few holes in trying to figure out, there’s supposed to be 3 projects but I only count 2 AND it the TIP says this will encompassing 4 miles…. But I used google maps to determine that it’s currently only 2 miles

Just noticed, there’s yet another “Highway 158” project but will be for the HWY 98 portion of it, it’s will be an $18 million project to build 4.70 miles of the Westbound Road from 2.5 miles East of the MS line to 0.5 miles East of Glenwood Road

So looks like once these projects are done only 3 miles are left that would need to be 4 laned along 158/98

Also with TIP all of 158 EAST of I-65 will be expanded to 4/5 lanes to HWY 43

Alright so did a little more digging, I had look in the Mobile MPO to match the project numbers, so it turns out these set of projects will actually 4 lane the entirety of 158/98

Here’s how the original 3 projects break down

Project 1000060155 is the construction of the Westbound lanes from Schillinger to Lott Rd
Project 1000060484 is the construction of the interchange for the Schillinger/158 intersection
Project 1000060482 is the construction of the Westbound lanes from Lott Rd to Glenwood Rd

So alongside project number 1000060485 which will construct the Westbound lanes from 2 miles East of MS line (West is already gonna be 4 laned) to Glenwood Rd. 158/98 will FINALLY finish construction

Thank goodness they will widen I-10 from the Bayway to AL-181, 20 years overdue.

Thanks for the update on these highway projects. All of them are long overdue. I could never understand why they let the Hwy 98 project languish so long especially since some of the alignment has been built for years and just sitting there unused. So many projects in the state needs to be addressed and expedited. Some of these have been on the books since the 70's.

An update, The Dauphin Street Apartments have put in a PUD Modification (just the movement of some of the garages) so looks like the Dauphin Street Apartments are still a go
