I've had Montguy on ignore for years. He pretty much wants Montana to become Seattle, which is the view of many liberals, and those that live in Berkley North, (Missoula). Everybody outside city limits disagrees with them, we know that's what they feel, they don't have any real impact on the rest of us, so we just enjoy ourselves and this wonderful state and let them simmer in their own bitterness.

NDak15 is a teacher I believe and wasn't making as much money as they wanted, and blames the state for not appreciating their own wonderfulness.

It doesn't bother me that they have to post their vitriol on this board because their hatred and unrealistic jaundiced view of the state helps convince others of their mindset to stay out.

If only the rest of us that love the state and its culture posted here, we'd be overrun with people wanting the same great life we've found.

So I say let them hate. It makes life better for everyone else that lives here.
Totally agree with everything you've said. I guess I don't understand why someone moves to a state (and this happens here in AZ as well) and then wants to change it to make it like what they were trying to get away from.

I'm happy to hear that these people have no real impact on the rest of you. Can't wait to move up there!

That's only true if you weren't calling me an SJW. Was I wrong to think that?

Have you considered Idaho?

Substitute the autodescriptive term of your choice for "SJW".

So anything I say about your ego-tripping friend Snowfla--I mean Silvertip!--is just a reflection of myself.

It's a pretty good place for the most part, depending on where you settle, most folks here are very nice, down to earth folks once you get to know them. It can take a while for them to get to know you, but once you make some friends, they'll probably be your friends for life.
Just give it time, be open and friendly yourself, and you should do just fine.

I really know how "newbe's" to an area can try to ruin it. Back in the mid 80's, I use to go to Jackpot Ropings in Norco, California. At that time, Norco was a nice "horse town" and there was even a story about Norco in Western Horseman magazine. Then, came the folks from Orange and L.A. Counties. They wanted to turn the horse paths into sidewalks and make Norco into a "big city" type environment. The locals/pioneers went nuts! I really wished them luck stopping this "big city" crap from happening.
It is a great state!!! (Bozeman is spelled with a z, fyi )

I'm not a big fan of rodeo, but just about every town has one, and they can be a lot of fun, especially all the ancillary activities that take place like street dances, car shows, parades, heritage events, rodeos are a big deal here especially with our long tradition of ranching and agriculture. Some areas focus on their mining history, like Butte, or talent like the Dirty Shame show up on the High-Line.
Not sure if they still have it, but Logger Days in Libby was a major blowout, just like the Bucking Horse sale in Miles City. Seriously fun events.

Personally, I enjoy the Fur Trade/Mountain Man part of our history. John Coulter, Jim Bridger, Jeremiah Johnson, Hugh Glass, all those guys were here, and Rendezvous are a blast, or the Indian Wars reacting the battles. Custer's Last Stand anyone?

Lots of fun stuff to do here based on our history and culture.

Not real familiar with a lot of California, I was stationed in san Diego for a while, but I always thought the state of Jefferson seemed to be a place I'd like to see.

Well, yeah, but you probably shouldn't have used the funhouse mirror.
