I also think any actor appearing in any of the Ocean's 11, etc. films is automatically overrated (sorry, Don Cheadle). I can't stand those.
I thought she was okay in Erin Brockovich. As for the Ocean's 11 movies, Matt Damon is good but not great (which makes him overrated as he seems to be worshipped for these roles). And George Clooney peaked on The Facts of Life, as we all know.

Actor: Tom Cruise (I don't get all the hype, his movies may gross a lot of $$$ but, to me, they're awful), Billy Bob Thorton, Hayden Christensen (he whines in every movie)
Actress: Halle Berry (pretty lady but no talent), Gwen Paltrow, Julian Moore

These are just a few; I won't waste my money going to the movies to see these and a few other "stars".

Brad Pitt IMHO is another over rated actor. And Tom Cruise is over rated. I unfortunately saw War of the Worlds. Terrible, terrible acting.

Most overrated choices in my humble opinion if we are rating by salary vs. talent is Tom Cruise, Julia Roberts, George Clooney, Jude Law, Billy Bob Thornton, Lindsay Lohan, Diane Keaton in her latest movies, Melanie Griffith, Ben Stiller, Drew Barrymore, Nicolette Sheridan, Halle Barry, Catherine Zeta-Jones, and Harrison Ford.

I agree with the post that cited overlooked and talented ones including Clive Owen and John Cusack.

Default I hate Hollywood

It seems like a lot of the overrated actors have worked there way on to every magazine cover and some kind of media attention 24/7 since they day they first got famous. Kind of makes you wonder when it will ever end. Julia Roberts, for example, hasn't worked in years, can't act, and no one cares if she had twins, is married, etc. but the media continues to force feed her to us and anyone who objects is a hater.

Gwynneth Paltrow--her acting isn't bad,but not exceptional and she seems conceited
Ditto for Tom Cruise (although he was very good in "Born on the 4th of July"
Madonna--horrible actress!
Matthew McConaghy (SP?) not terrible but not exceptional either
Agree on Melanie Griffith--her voice makes her sound 10 years old!

Yes Melanie Griffith always sounds like a little girl.
