A squirrel ran right across my path this morning. It had something in its mouth that looked like leaves and twigs. It was running too fast to be sure.

Sounds like he made it across the Danger Zone successfully.

I've seen this often. They're gathering material for patching up their nest.

No danger from me. Unlike Andrew Zimmern, I won't eat squirrel.

Harbinger-of-Spring was in bloom in the woods near the Kentucky River last week - now, it's covered with three inches of snow!

Lots of trees have begun to bud. They'll make it somehow.

Default Mourning Doves

We still have lots of snow and the nights are freezing, but during the day with the sun it feels warmer outside. I noticed since couple of days our ,,Love pair'' the Mourning doves. We have big window edges in front of our bedroom and they love sitting there and they are cooing early mornings cooing in the evenings and they are busy ,,Rejoicing''and ,,tenderly attending ''to each other. Every year we see the same ones and even rearing their young ones twice a year in our garden.

One of the chipmunks who dens on my property popped out yesterday and started rummaging for seeds and nuts. (I've named him Patio Bob because of where he lives.)

He started his hibernation in November, so seeing him yesterday has convinced me that winter's worst is over.

Below is a pic of Bob prepping for winter.
