The unwarranted assertion by the Related Management that by not officially providing with the offers and leases to prospective tenants they are legally covered is not entirely binding. In fact, since the beginning of 2014, they have been inundating the current landlords with paperwork, effectively creating an illusion that all those people would soon move out. As a result, many families have lost their leases and homes. This constitutes a tangible legal violation. The triviality of the outstanding requirements needing pass to occupy the building suggests that the delay is another RM gambit. To further worsen the situation, the Related Management refuses to communicate with future tenants and all the information is obtained through internet searches and blogging. Those most severely affected by this situation should consider a legal action against the Related Management individually or class action as a group. Moreover, the office of Mayor de Blasio, whose political agenda highlights affordable housing and who signed off this building as permanently affordable, should be contacted. The Division of Housing and Community Renewal (DHCR) and NYC Commission on Human Rights should also be included. Here are the contact links:

I understood it as the Department of Buildings that's holding thing up, and not Related, that everyone at Related is very anxious to get the building open, at least at the level we are connected to. But of course it's hard to tell really when you aren't getting any real answers, and the people we have access to don't seem to have any of the answers anyway. I think there just isn't any rush for the Department of Buildings to make these final approvals. I could be wrong. I'm not really sure.

I feel like there's no rush by the city to approve this building because it's an "affordable " building. Like if it were a Trump building, with high rent or high sales price involved, THEN the developers would pressure the city and/or the construction company more to get 'er done.

But Sidd Hartha has very valid points in his Post. Related IS in charge of this building; they should be more pro-active in getting it approved for Permanent Occupancy.

An interesting article from 2012 on the problem of CoO delays in NYC. Not sure how much of this is still relevant.

Department of Buildings | Delays | Construction

It's interesting though that the article infers that move ins typically happen with just a TCO, which is what I would have thought as well.

Also this "it takes the DOB an average of 24 days to respond to email correspondence..."

There's your problem.

Well, IKYKWIA, also there appears to be some serious things wrong with 529. Like the roof on the 30th street side, has water leaking issues. The wood in that area is "rotting". And the building itself was not built "according to plan" (blueprints??). Its all on that Link that was posted, on page 15. If you look at the 28 issues, these are 2 of them.

I do not blame Related at this point. I blame the as*hole, cheap ignornant shoddy construction company that put up this building. They obviously cut corners on this building, knowing it was going to us "low income" persons.

Those violations are for the building that was there before. 2010. I think the DOB keeps all information for the entire history of the property. They arent on the list of requirements for this new building. http://a810-bisweb.nyc.gov/bisweb/BS...allbin=1089360

So that's not this construction. That's violations from when the building was a garage.

In good news, I did just notice a change on the Property profile page. It had previously been listed as a "garage." Now it's listed as Department of Finance Building Classification: D6-ELEVATOR APT. So some progress!

The permit for this construction was issued in 2012, so the violations from 2010 are definitely not from this construction company. And the violations are definitely are no longer there, and probably only exist in this website because whoever "west 30th street holdings" is never paid the fine before selling it off to related or whoever owned the property before related.

So rest assured friend, it looks like everything is being built with the highest of quality in mind for us!
