is anyone still waitlisted for this property? I was placed on the waitlist for a 1BR on May 20th, 2021 with a log number of 56XXX. I've tried to contact the offices and ask for an update on my status but haven't been able to reach anyone.
I received an email letting me know I was officially on a waitlist on 5/20/21. My log num is 15X. I had high hopes since my log num was so low but now I’m no longer waiting. Units becoming available anytime soon sounds like a dream so there goes that. Just moving on
After the building fills, I wouldn't expect movement on the waitlist for at least a year. I wouldn't consider it a meaningful possibility in your planning. Good luck, though.
What's interesting is the rent for 2 bedrooms is now $2843, up from $2304 in the original affordable housing ad.
Why did it increase so much? Any ideas?
That's what I'm complaining about myself. I am being shown an apartment tomorrow but the dam thing is 400 dollars more from when I originally applied. I couldn't believe it. Now I'm still skeptical about signing but I'm still going to the viewing.

Did you ask the agent ?
They should honor the rent that was listed when you applied for the lottery.
What about if it was the way around ? Like you were making $400 less when you applied and now you are making $400 extra which put you over the income bracket.

This is sooo true! But I haven't asked because whatever they tell me, the rent will be as is and no amount of my complaining will change it. I do know that the new AMI's are out though so maybe that has something to do with it.

It never hurts to ask, and it's something that need to be addressed when they send you the doc request.
Is there anything about it on the marketing handbook ? If no, I'll contact HPD for clarification because this is more than 4 % increase in less than 2 years.
If the apartment was originally rented at $2304/mo., under the regulatory increase, one year later the rent should be....$2304/mo. There are a couple of other potential scenarios, but none of them involve an increase of 20%. Sounds shady to me!
Nonetheless, Essex Crossing has pulled through the pandemic reasonably well. If it's not too far from your job, you can't beat the convenience.
