I was wrong too! I am shocked that 2,000 units will be included. And that they’re vacant! And renovated! Now I’m even sadder that my number is so lousy. I would love a dishwasher.
I have a good source for the info but don’t want to say anything more.
Do you know what's happening with the 2018 waitlist...has an expiration been set? Because they asked me for everything in April.
Stuy Town is putting 2,000 units into this lottery.
They are currently vacant.
The vast majority of them will have the "classic finish" renovation, which you can see on the Stuy Town website or Streeteasy (link is below). It's actually my favorite, with wood cabinetry and marble counters. The appliances will be upgraded to stainless steel.
A smaller number of the lottery units, about 200 in number, will be "minimally renovated," with some work done in the kitchen, and I think dishwashers will be added, but not 100% sure. The bathrooms in these units will be pretty much the same as the 1947 originals. These units will be painted, etc.
I don't know if these will be the cheaper ones or not.
I didn't think to ask about the mix of one-bedrooms, etc., sorry. But in general, Stuy Town has a good supply of one-bedrooms and two-bedrooms, and fewer threes. I don't know about Peter Cooper.
It's great that there are 2,000 units pretty much ready to go, so those of you with lower numbers, get ready!
The previous Stuy Town lotteries were rent regulated, but not under stabilization. The rents were determined by the rise (and, rarely, the fall) of the AMI. We have to wait and see if this new lottery will be the same. If I find out any more info about this, I'll post it.
Edited to add: The lottery people are telling applicants that these units are rent stabilized.

I am super excited to hear that these apartments might be rent stabilized. This would be super helpful for individuals who may not get large pay increases in the future.
