I currently work with a non profit that helps immigrants in getting social services and other free resources. So I am helping other poor people get things for free, and I love it!

You're a complete f'n idiot if you can't live on your own in this city on a 75K salary, never mind higher. You can live on your own at 50K for christ sakes.

There's something wrong with you if you can't make that work.

Lol. I certainly do not want to live around low-income people of any sort, that's the truth and I never try to hide it. Nothing else you said is remotely close to reality (just like your apartment claims). The only thing that keeps me here is my successful career. I make quite a bit of money because I'm not a P.O. (although they do okay themselves).

When my 20 is up, I will definitely leave because NYC isn't for me anymore. When have I ever said otherwise? But affordability? Lol. I'm good bud. Between the two of us, we have to figure out how to limit our tax exposure every year, which is a nice problem to have.

You need to be a Platinum member to get the God-given right to live here. The journalist seems out of the know.

Proud of it. I've worked very hard in my life and made mostly all of the right choices so that my family doesn't have to be around that crap. I'm not ashamed in the least to say so. Race, creed, religion or whatever else crap someone can come up with have nothing to do with my opinion. But poor, low-class, ghetto? Take that crap somewhere else.

A successful career you claim to be so miserable in. Why not leave NYC now? What kind of success makes you this miserable.

Plenty of what I said is close to reality. I'm in NYC, I know the social services system pretty well and I love helping immigrants and other poor people navigate it and get what they need for help! Solidarity for the poor people! I have spent plenty of my time around activists throughout the years, including leftists, liberal democrats, socialists, communists, pro immigrant groups and anarchists and I am quite proud of it. I have no problem dealing with NYC's underclass (a big portion of the city) and I am proud that I do. I don't have to ignore the existence of these people like some of you here because I don't hate them and I have no problems in dealing with them.

Maybe you just love NYC so much that you cannot understand how this works?

One can actually enjoy everything about their life except for the city they live in. This city downright blows for someone who enjoys the activities that I prefer. I'm constantly having to leave - vacation, weekends, day trips, etc (We just returned an hour ago from a day exploring Revolutionary War history in north Jersey) - to recharge after a full week here. BUT, my career affords me the ability to finance these trips and my hobbies on top of life's necessities, so I'm not willing to move just yet. Some jobs aren't transferrable and my career pays more in this city. Comprende?

Where you get this belief that I hate any aspect of my life other than NYC is beyond me. Like you, I was raised here. Unlike you, I don't like it here. Unfortunately for me, I became well established before I realized that this place was no longer for me.

As for your comrades, whatever works for you. You're in the right place apparently. When I do eventually leave in 8-10 years, I will be going someplace where "leftist" is a curse word, not the proper term to describe the mayor.

And by the way, since no one else has said it, its "boarders" not "borders", and most people still don't have them.

I was on my smartphone earlier which has auto correct, so that's where the boarders came from.

But if you love things so much when you leave NYC, why do you not decide to stay permanently gone? Obviously there are police departments around the nation. So why stay where you say you are so miserable, where you cannot engage in the activities you enjoy?

No one of course has to like NYC or any one place. I think people should live where they want to. If you want to live permanently in Tennessee, there is no problem with that. You should go there now, become a police officer, and actually ENJOY your life there.

Whenever you do move to a state like TN, I will be HAPPY for you! I don't want anyone to stick with what they don't like.
