Not everyone gets depressed over things that haven't affected them yet. I'm right in the thick of this on multiple fronts (and very well informed). I'm just as happy as I also am. I see no reason NOT to be.
Grand Central restaurant owners slam MTA over coronavirus rent
Lady Gaga’s dad may soon have company in his rent battle with the Metropolitan Transportation Authority, The Post has learned.
Grand Central Terminal bar and restaurant owners are fuming at the MTA — their landlord — for reminding them to pay their rent after they were ordered to shutter in face of the coronavirus.
NEW YORK (WABC) -- New York state businesses can have no more than 50 percent of their workforce on site, with essential services excluded, as the death toll hit 20 and the number of cases soars to 2,382, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced Wednesday morning.
Well, also, just general food ideas. I have some small indoor plants and the citrus is pretty nice. It's a good time for gardening if you've got the space for it. Could come in handy later--and if it doesn't, well, at least now you've got something to do for a while.
Because many people are still casually strolling along and I saw what had to be literally a 35 year old Woman smiling ear to ear giggling like a school girl and Happy as a dog in a pile of chicken bones. I mean there is literally no reason to be that happy right now....none.
I would estimate only 20% of New Yorkers are 100% informed and aware of the severity of this and what is happening to the global economy.
Is this a joke...How were you even able to get tested unless you were unconscious???
If you can walk yourself into a medical facility without any assistance and your knees aren't buckling I highly doubt you will be able to get tested successfully. The latest criteria is pretty clear. If you have casual cold symptoms you will be turned away.
Are you posting from a Hospital bed???
That's a modern update of the Rodney Dangerfield or Henny Young man joke.
Some people don't have the mental strength to handle adverse situations. Some do. In the military we called it, "embracing the suck." Man up or hide. I'd rather be around people with good attitudes and strong resolve, they are beneficial in a crisis. Depressed people are nearly worthless.

So since we're on the military theme let's discuss this angle...
Americans historically our culture rewards a braggadocios mindset, bravado , "fake it till you make it" etc.
Up until the Korean War our style was HUZZAH and GUNS BLAZING....Then in Vietnam we got our asses handed to us and again in Iraq history repeats itself.
At what point do we embrace other perspectives.... We are fighting an invisible enemy that is crafty, cunning and elusive... And you think big tanks, big guns and big bombs are going to do the trick.
I was just mentioning this to a friend. Our idea of survival and "strength" is all wrong.
The people who survive this don't have a "strong" immune system. They have a SMART immune system. Their helper T cells are fast, accurate and delegate quickly and manage their signaling meticulously.
The people who die have unbound telomeres and defects that broke the "OFF " Switch and what ends up happening is the Killer T cells go unchecked on a rampage, mast B cells spraying Cytokines (inflammation) bullets everywhere harming healthy tissue in the lungs.
Inflammation leads to overproduction of mucous which leads to oxygen deficiency which results in death.
Sometimes the smart decision is to HIDE and BIDE time to analyze the enemy to find their weakness. This is no time to be brave or strong against an enemy we have limited intelligence on.

Yes. This I agree with 100 percent. Have to be able to tell a person freaking out the truth too. A good " shut the hell up and do your job is needed ". Have to be able to be positive in the worst of times. I grew up in a very socially dysfunctional neighborhood with lots of violence and poor coping skills all around learned to keep a level head. This lesson is also useful when bringing people over to drink with. Ever had a depressed drunk at your gathering ???? Take them out back and lock the door please
