Your OJT relays pair you up with a non-probationary S/W. You are expoected to do all the driving, pre-trip, fueling, etc. When you get to the dump he/she will probably help you out to dump the truck in a timely fashion as you don't want to be that guy taking a half hour to dump and slow the place down.
They generally try to get you close to home for the OJT. You will dump whatever they dump on a shift. 2 splits, 3 splits, 4 collection, or a combination depending on what they have.
I would also add that under no circumstances should the guy you are with pressure you into doing anything faster than you are comfortable with just because he wants to get done. You take your time. He was probably sitting in your posistion a couple years ago and i'm sure he was nervous as hell. I don't know if you just got your CDL or not, but 25-30 tons at 50 mph is a lot different than an empty cutdown doing paralell parking. Like everybody says, just show up on time. Figure out how to get there before you go. Get there an hour early it's no big deal. Good luck.
