So whats the story with the new class? Some people seem to already know the garage they will be assigned to while others do not. Are these people with some sort of hook or have only a few been actually assigned already? Oh, and a safe & happy New Year to All

because this is a business that the private sector can handle just fine. what else should government do if they are picking up our garbage? maybe all cleaning agencies should be taken over by a government monopoly supported by our taxes. maybe all supermarkets should be government operated. how about restaurants. it makes no sense that our garbage collectors are government employees.

no matter if its cheaper or not (but i have a feeling the guys who work for the dsny think it wouldnt be cheaper) it shouldnt be government employees. you can chop over $1 billion off the budget of nyc by dropping the sanitation departments job of garbage and snow removal and just let them be a regulatory agency overseeing the private companies. it would also be better for new yorkers if they could contract directly with the companies not like nyc subcontracting because then you will definitely have unions and high minimum rates. if people chose the companies they would generally picture the lowest bidder who does a good job.

Wouldn't it be spectacular if NYS had its own Erta Ale Erta Ale - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Then we could put all our garbage in it

No one knows where they are going to because they haven't planned yet who is going where after training.... with maybe one or two exception lol. But we were told that when we go for OJT training that the garage we are sent to will probably not be the ones we are assigned to after training.....
