More like mental health issues. My mother has betrayed me in ways like this before (and acted in poor judgment). I was beginning to forget and think I had judged her too hard, but this was a reminder to me of a pattern of behavior I dealt with for a long time.
So then it was more than likely your mother who stole your jewelry and not the cleaners. Can’t fire mom...
Only I knew where they were because I put them there. Besides my sister, nobody else has visited that room in years.
The cleaners come twice a month though and my mother said its not always the same people. Sometimes its someone she's never seen before. They are there left alone to clean all day.
I dont want to suspect people of theft, but its literally the only people who had the opportunity.
How do you know who was in and out of that room? You said yourself it’s been a year or so since you ‘think’ you last saw them.
Stealing is wrong but so is being careless with your property. Property you obviously don’t care much about
Do you think it is ok to take what is not yours as long as its not locked up?
Do you think it’s ok to semi hide, in a drawer, so called ‘fine’ jewelry in a family member’s house for years on end where you yourself admit you might use/see it once a year?

No but your question was how to respond. It was on you to keep it safe.
