Fact is what the Founding Fathers meant about freedom of religion was it didn't matter what religion you where in as long as you believed in a higher power that created the heavens and the earth, thus God. To say now that this country is Hindu or Buddhist is wrong. Obama wants to make this country secular and go against the principles that this country was founded on, Judeo-Christian beliefs.

This whole debate centers upon a word... "marriage".

The anti-gay marriage folks have the same thoughts that Ed wrote...the whole "white dress" thing.

But down through the ages, "marriage" has (and continues to have) different meanings & overtones. Most societies have considered "marriage" a legal contract for the male to have "ownership" of the female (as well as her dowry & titles).

Marriages were performed for business reasons only for the longest time (up 'til the early 1900's to be exact) & some to this day are STILL for business reasons.

To "marry for love" was actually looked down upon, & in a lotta instances, got the "marriers" disinherited, kidnapped, killed, etc. (look at Romeo & Juliet for a popular example)

Marriage itself has evolved for centuries to become this "white dress" stereotype that is considered "normal" today. Despite the opposition, it will continue to evolve as time goes on...

What?! Who is saying this country is Hindu or Buddhist? It's not supposed to be ANY religion. Seperation of Church and State.

That's not what they meant at all. They meant that it was not a requirement to believe in ANY sort of higher being, much less a state sponsored one. The Founding Fathers might have believed in one, sure, but the country they formed would be secular, meaning worship as you choose, IF you choose. That's it. Nothing more.

The founding fathers of the United States of America were men of deep religious convictions based in the Bible and their Christian faith in Jesus Christ. They wanted people to follow these ways to build this country into a strong place to live, with morals and values. The country today seems to be getting far away from that. We need GOD back in America.

Obama in one of his many speeches stated that this country is this and that, but it's not. Our country was not founded on those principles of religion.

Wrong, they did not set this up to be a secular country. They wanted freedom of religion, not from religion. Their strong moral and spiritual convictions helped form the foundations of our nation and our government. Some of them were freemasons, meaning it didn't matter what religion you were as long as you believed in God.

Christianity is the largest belief system in the US...that's fact.

BUT

That doen NOT give Christians the right to call this country "a Christian nation". That would be just like England was when the pilgrims left for America...to escape the government that was so theocratically run by it's religion. They founded this country on the premise of "free worship". In my mind, nowadays that would include Hindus, Buddhists, Moslems, etc.

Have any of you done research on the apparitions of the Virgin Mary during the last century??

Her message it seems, is for ALL God's children to "unite" & "stop the division" in society as well as faith. She states that God loves ALL of His children, no matter their belief, ethnicity, etc.

She has appeared to Christians, Taoists, Buddhists, Moslems....one of the most famous happened in 1968 in Egypt, where thousands of people from all walks of life saw Her & actually got proof. Newspapers & TV covered pictures taken of the event...very interesting...

YouTube - Virgin Mary appears to +500,000 people in Egypt!!

I challenge you to find the words "separation of church and state" in the constitution.

All that is prohibited is a state-run religion as in the Church of England.

Guys, I'm done with this argument, it's making my head spin. Going out to get some fresh air, everyone be safe and enjoy your day and believe what you want, it's not going to make much difference in the end.
