Isnt it funny or ironic, that really good looking people sometimes hve lil "ugly ducklings" and butt ugly people have beautiful pageant winning kids. Check the PARENTS of the lil girl pageant winners, aot of them are bucktooth, with big ole noses, and a lil chunky, not trying to be mean, just ststing the facts!

I read somewhere that our children tend to be more average than we are in looks, height and intelligence. Perhaps someone with a genetics background can explain why this is true if it is true.

"more average" meaning better than we are or worse?

I have a guilty addiction to "toddlers in tiaras" on TLC...You're right, those girls all look like little supermodels with their makeup and spray tans and fake teeth (yup, 3 year olds with fake teeth!), but when they show the kids at their home without all the extras, they look like their parents more often than not.

More toward average. If we're above average, they're lower. If we're below average, they're higher. On average of course. There are always outliers.

genetics is a gamble, that is why. however, in most cases good-looking people have higher chances of having good-looking children.

what about families that have, like, 2 really cute kids and one that's not very cute? I always feel sorry for that kid. Just bad luck, I guess.

what i think is a real pity is when a good-looking woman marries an ugly guy for his money... and they have a daughter that looks like the father.

Think about how ridiculous that sounds.

If a child is 'more average' than the parents, how much 'more average' can the child be after 3 or 4 generations? All parents would have to start out so far from average than it would be unthinkable.

After a couple generations, everybody would be all the same in intelligence, height and looks. All average.
