Giant yellow thing with burlap bags we sat on and did wheelies with on the way down. Way fun.
That area also had a Pop Shoppe and Kartland and the drive-in across the street on the south side was... uh ...the Big Sky /Round Up ?? help me out here.
Yeah! Big Sky. Sometimes they showed X-rated movies. In high school sometimes we would park behind the fence in the street and watch.

I remember that slide. Somewhere near 37th or 39th ave. Almost fell off the bag reached out with my hand and got a nice friction burn.

Round Up Drive in was at 67th st. and Thomas. My friend's father ran it and they lived in a house behind the screen. There's a nursing home there now. Go figure.

No. 7201 S Central. The Rodeo Drive In was at 1223 E Buckeye, the Nu-View at about 37th Ave and Buckeye. For a trip down Arizona drive-in memory lane, take a look at this:

How do you remember Phoenix? Stories from long time residents...-phx-islands-restaurant.jpgThe Islands was owned by Tommy Wong who bought it from Del Webb. Wong spent a million dollars remodeling the place and eventually the upkeep was too much. The place was riddled with termites and walls were constantly being replaced.

Carlotta Sales - the used carlot was Sonoita Motors (Lonnie Hendricks and can't remember the name of the big guy). But will never forget "E-Z Credit" the donkey!

Willie, I don't recall it being pneumonia that Glen died of. He was told by his doctor that if he didn't stop drinking he would die from liver failure. Unfortunately, he didn't believe his doctor. He was Alice Cooper's "drinking buddy". I was at Cortez in 65-66 also. Alice "played" the tamborines with the "Earwigs" - sort of a play on the Beatles!
