Yea, be nice if they could get back into the right hands. Was a lot of family history and I'm sure there were more I wasn't able to save.

Does anyone remember that "computerized" service they used to have in the 1970s when you dialed [602-]258-7600?

"Downtown temperature, 96. Time, 10:15."

We used to call AL-87600, same thing, when I was a kid. We used a friends phone because we did not have one. We also used that phone to play "Name It And Claim It" on KRIZ Radio. Remember Tony Evans (DJ at KRIZ)?

I sure like the pictures with the pedal cars. We always wanted one as kids but never got it. Since then we have had a lot of them and restored them. Now I have them but just too darn big to fit in them now! Wish they made an adult size!

There was a period of time (no pun intended) when there was an ad, I think for APS or SRP, in between the temperature and time.

"Downtown temperature, 106. To cut down on your summer electric bill, turn off your air conditioning. Time 2:25."

There always seemed to be some joker who'd write on the restroom walls "For a good time, call 258-7600!" Saw it in a stall at Town and Country.

Trying to get my bearings on the first picture. That is obviously Red Mountain to the far right in the background. The second picture is in Apache Junction at the Y where Apache Trail (SR88) splits off from old US60. That would be Silly Mtn in the background of the second picture, just above the cars rear license plate.

Does anyone remember the old General Store in Glendale and next door was a company that bottled soda. I went on a field trip there once and then they took us to the General Store. I also remember a Worm Farm and Dairy Farm out there amongst the Cotton Fields this was back in the early 70s. I can remember when there was nothing north of Cactus and there was Alfalfa growing on sides of Dunlap and 19th Ave. (my Grandma lived in the neighborhood between 19th and the Freeway) I knew when we were going to her house when we turned and drove past those fields. Remember the old Farm at Dunlap and the Freeway? I knew we were close to Metro Center when ever I saw that farm.

I was in this 'castle' many times in the early 80's. Mort was a nice guy.
Man who built Copenhaver Castle in Phoenix helps new owner with repairs

Driving up the driveway was scary, Mort usually had someone drive guests
up the mountain, there was a large court yard and garages at the front door. Once inside, the entry way led to a step down living room and I mean way down, then left into the den with the indoor swimming pool and small gym. Then up to the kitchen and outside to a corridor to the bedrooms. Views were incredible from every room. Place was furnished with old Spanish style furniture.

When the castle was first started there was a rumor going around elementary schools in the Valley that it was the new home of Gerald (of Wallace and Ladmo).
