I remember going to that theater in 1969 to see Easy Rider at a midnite showing.

Never could figure out what that sign said (Apache Trail). I scanned these along time ago and some had writing on them I missed. One of the pics of the guy with his car says "Ronnie, Dec. 17, 1937" and the one with the houses is difficult to make out but looks like "Ronnies house from our roof".

I'm pretty sure Dunbar is still in business, in the same building.

Macayos...yes! I had forgotten about Prestige cleaners, then again, I had the centers name wrong too...oops. Camelback Mall, not Camelview.

Camelback Mall? A look at a past issue of the Phoenix Gazette confirms that (almost had visions of my past Indian Bend Country Club post flash before me...).
Today looking at Google Earth, the area is now an apartment complex where the parking and dry cleaners were located. Even the old dealership building is dust now.

certainly more than an "apartment complex"!....it's now called Scottsdale Waterfront and has two 15-story condo towers, upscale shopping and restaurants, underground parking, a pedestrian bridge over the canal, and there's an extension of Fashion Square south of Camelback Rd. next to it.....and the canal has been embraced rather than shunned....

who'd a thunk this would happen back in the 1960s??!!

To think, the old Safari Resort was considered upscale at the time.

That is from Brad Hall's page. He also has a blog on Phoenix history that is interesting. I've been following it for months and he posts up new pictures every day. Well worth following.

I got to looking there from your recent post. Couldn't get through it all without my computer giving me fits but I could see the whole photo album fine.
