New question for the forum:

Does anyone remember a bar in Tempe, in 1972 or 1973, called "Uncle Albert's"??
I know I was there back in college days, but no one seems to remember where it was located.
Thanx!

It was down on Baseline Road on the north edge of the South Mountain Point. David Dodt and the Hi-Fis played there quite often. IIRC

Roosevelt, I see the Westdale Movie Theater on the sign. In the 50s, I went to The Aero Theater just east of 35th Ave and Van Buren?...I spent my grade school years at that theater. Next door to it was a small mom-pop ice cream shop and it was a tradition that we bought an ice cream cone after each movie. Across the street, on the south side of VB was a skating rink. I drove by that area the other day on the way to the cemetary and that airplane wing still stands tall from Aero Theater. Ahhhh memories... I had a lot of grade school/high school friends that lived in Alzona Park.

I thought the wing was gone. Maybe you can take a photo and post it. I was at my grandfather's farm house on Van Buren when the Theater opened. The newspaper had an article on it identifying the plane it came off of and my uncle said they made a mistake, it was off some other airplane.

I liked Lou Grubb ads too. My favorite used to air every year about the children going to school for the very first time. He made it sound as such a challenge and yet off they went. I wonder if those ads are still sitting on tape or something somewhere.

I know of at least one..
Lou Grubb Friends Fore Golf 2012 - YouTube

You can fast forward to about 1:40 to catch the commercials. I remember dad bought at least 3 Chevrolets from Lou Grubb ( and one or two from Courtesy before that ).

Prisoners used to make license plates. This was before vanity plates.
