No, the family I knew were the Kishiyamas, who also owned a flower garden. (I remember the Watanabe name, though.) The Kishiyama patriarch just passed away not long ago (I think I copied his obituary in here somewhere.)

There was a childrens show in that time frame named "Fury" about a girl and her horse. I believe there was a boy that later was on "My Three Sons" too. The yoyo adverisements were promoting Duncan yoyos I think.

I'm not sure which post here you are responding to.

Fury was not about a girl and her horse, but a boy. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fury_(TV_series) Bobby Diamond was the actor who played the boy, his "dad" was played by Peter Graves, later of "Mission Impossible". Bobby Diamond looked like one or two of the boys on My Three Sons, but he was not on that show.

I think there were a number of Duncan yoyo guys. I remember see one of them at the (??) AJ Bayless at 7th Street and Glendale doing all kinds of great tricks.

The guy I saw was Oriental and would custom carve stuff on the yo yo if you bought one. I had a "butterfly" model that was shaped like the pulley on a car generator rather than being round. There was also the Imperial model.

I think they reversed the exterior so there was a slot for your finger.

Shoot the moon, walking the dog, baby in the cradle. Great stuff.

I remember Bob's Big Boy by Christown and Mary Coyles Ice Cream, Wallace and Ladmo at Christown after they left the Fox Theatre downtown. Learned to drive in the desert at 7th St and Thunderbird. Legend City.

Mary Coyle is still there, although I think they changed ownership a few years back.

It did apparently change ownership back in 2011, but the restaurant is not in the location where most long term residents remember it, as it moved from Thomas Rd ffiteen plus years ago.

Wasn't it around 15th ave, or somewhere near Encanto park?
