The Mary Coyle at 19th and Bethany has been long gone. They moved from 15th Ave and Thomas to 7th Ave just north of Camelback many years back. I stop in now and then for an ice cream and some old time memories. Ran around with Tim Coyle in high school and he would give me a Family Platter Gift Certificate for my birthday. Wow, what a gift...

I didn't even know there was ever a 19th and Bethany location. It's been at 5521 N 7th Ave since the move from 15th Ave.

Mary Coyle's had 3 locations: 1335 W. Thomas, (1951). 3717 E. Indian School Road (1954) 19th Ave and Bethany Home Road in 1962. Tim Coyle ran the 19th/Bethany Home Coyles. BTW, the dates came right from Tim when they ran the article a few years back that Mary Coyle's was closing and there were a lot of comments on locations so I asked Tim who is still a valued high school friend.

Here's a May 4, 1974 ad for Standard Brands, locolobo13 - the address of the store is at the bottom, 4295 W. Camelback:

Standard Brands use to carry art supplies as well as house painting stuff. They had some cheap packs of multi-colored felt tip pens (a 12 pack for a buck) that all my friends and I used for art projects

When I lived at 43rd Ave and Camelback, Standard Brands was my go-to for all things house decoration and my blooming art business. I did oil, water color and acrylic paintings, I hung wall paper, mirror wall tiles, adhesive carpet squares....and I did wooden key chains that I sold in many places such as Goldwaters. Standard Brands LOVED me.... and I loved that store. I was sad when it closed.
