I love the feeling of the air suffocating me and I just love all those bugs the humidity brings out. I just hate how a mister or a fan will cool you off in Phoenix, it sucks!! Cause I just hate evaporation, evaporation sucks!! I love how I have swamp ass all day long when i visit New York, New Orleans, Miami or Houston in the summer. Phoenix sucks cause you dry off so fast that you don't get to experience the true joys of swamp ass all day. Damn, why do I live here again? this place really sucks!!
Swamp ass!!!!! That is soooo funny! Never in all my days have I heard that, but yes indeed - swamp ass!!!

The problem is there is NOTHING else to do but go to a mall in Phoenix!

And the irony is that the shopping selection there SUCKS compared to any other major city. Especially here.

My girlfriend and I moved out of Arizona about 6 weeks ago, and went to a mall ONCE in that time, and while we were there, at South Coast Plaza we said "it's weird that we haven't been to a mall in a month, when we lived in Scottsdale this is all we did." It took us 2 weeks to go out to dinner here, which we thought was weird also.

See, in Arizona, we went out to eat EVERY DAY, usually twice a day, and were at the mall at least 3x a week. Why? Because there is NOTHING else to do. Here, in Newport Beach, there is SO much else to do that we have little desire to spend our time shopping or going out to eat.

I laugh when Scottsdale people justify their town by saying "we have nice restaurants and shopping" because EVERY city has that and most are even better than what Phoenix/Scottsdale has to offer.

"Let's go to the mall!! Then let's go out to eat!!!" It's like a recurring nightmare that never ends when you live in Arizona. It's like Groundhog Day. THANK GOD I'm out of that nightmare!!!

Gosh, you sound like the most boring person in the world.

You couldn't think of anything else to do in Phoenix, besides go to a mall or eat out? Yikes...I feel sorry for your lack of creativity. You're probably better off in California.

You never thought to go to a Suns, DiamondBacks, Cardinals, or Coyotes game? How about any of the ASU games? Spring training baseball? The multiple mini golf or water park venues in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Mesa? Did you ever try hiking in the South Mountains, White Tank Mountains, Camelback Mountain, or Squaw Peak? Did you ever take a drive up to Sedona to see the Red Rocks, and go hiking through the woods/canyons there? How about a Nascar event at the Phoenix International Raceway? Go to the horsetrack to bet on a race or two?

What about the zillions of art festivals that go on in Old Town Scottsdale almost every weekend during the spring and fall (and sometimes winter and summer)? How about the various food, wine, beer, and/or chocolate festivals that occur in Scottsdale, Glendale, Phoenix and Mesa every year? How about the art and science museums downtown, or the art and cultural centers located in cities such as Scottsdale and Mesa? How about the art galleries on 3rd and 5th Avenues in Old Towne Scottsdale, or the nearby southwestern/Native American shops? How about the farmer's market that takes place on multiple Saturdays throughout the year in places like Ahwatukee and Goodyear? How about the state fair, which comes to town for two or three weeks every October/November? Attend the annual Renaissance Festival or Italian Festival?

Did you ever go to one of the many happenings at the various convention centers around town, like the Phoenix Home Improvement and Garden Show or the Phoenix Women's Expo? Did you ever go to see a concert in Glendale or a musical or play at one of the various venues throughout the city? Did you ever visit a comedy club, like the Improv in Tempe? Did you ever go to see a movie at the Imax theater in Tempe, one of the many mega-plex theaters throughout the city, or the Cine Capri in North Scottsdale?

The Desert Botanical Gardens or the Phoenix Zoo? Did you ever go to the Lookout Point at the top of South Mountain, where you have a complete 180 degree view of the entire Valley? Did you ever grab a margarita at one of the various Mexican cantinas around town or a Guiness at a local Irish pub (there are a few very good ones in Phoenix metro)? How about get a manicure, pedicure, facial, or massage at one of the zillions of day spas/resorts in Phoenix and the surrounding areas? Did you ever think to have afternoon tea and pastries at the Ritz Carlton, Phoenician, or Biltmore Hotels?

How about one of the casinos for a hand of blackjack or some slots? Did you ever visit lake Powell, or any of the other lakes in and around Phoenix? How about any of the happenings down at the Towne Lake in Tempe/on Mill Avenue, like the festivals there for Fourth of July and New Year's Eve? Did you ever think to take a cooking class at the culinary school here in town, since apparently, you're lacking in that area, judging by the fact that you ate out twice a day when you lived here? Guess not...

Yeah, you're right...I'm having a hard time coming up with ANYTHING besides going to a mall or out to dinner. Phoenix sounds so boring. I'm sure it misses you and your girlfriend...

Newport Beach....hmmmm....no wonder you're not eating out or going to malls anymore....real estate is so expensive there that you probably don't have any money left to do anything other then pay rent/mortgage and buy some Top Ramen for dinner

Ok - back to "Feeniks" bashing .....

I hate Phoenix:

And all of it's healthy slim tan people with white teeth!

It's palm trees & landscaped medians suck! Where's the scrub brush, weeds & cig butts?)

There's too many nice cars cruising around! I want schleppps!

The trailors are in nice compact retirement areas and not spread out all over with junky trampolines & broken down cars out front. Hate it!

Phoenix simply does not have enough smokers. I hate not seeing the mom driving her car with her smoke tween' her lips & 4 kids in the backseat.

I hate all of the restaurants! All any of us really needs is Dairy Queen and a buffet at Ryans yanno!

And above all... I hate Phoenix because I'm not living there anymore!

But the Phoenix haters who have said they have a right to express their opinions are 100% correct. Have at it. I hope the contributors to this thread can stay focused on the negative aspects of the city and surrounding communities and not cloud the discussion with rosy, optimistic, happy thoughts. I have no intentions of interjecting any defensive comments.

I hope the moderators will not delete this thread. There are so many negative comments throughout this forum that I seriously think it would be beneficial to have one thread for prospective residents to come to and find out all there is to dislike about this soulless, barren wasteland .
Just read your OP. What ARE the positives? If you are going to have an OP as such, you need to state them and I don't have the time to read through the whole thread.
