What are the reasons as other than Wannstedt it's been a long time since anyone truly wanted to coach at Pitt just because it's Pitt. And while Wannstedt is a name of significance, I've never thought of him more than a very good coordinator, but not a good/great coach.

Very few choose to be a big fish in a small pond. They want bigger and better.

28 deleted posts later, I have to say one thing:
If you have a final warning, for example for things like trolling or hijacking threads, don't think that just because you've been around for a while, you can't be banned permanently. Keep working for that ban and you might just get it.
Not talking about anyone specific

Bowl scenario could go several different ways for Pitt | Pittsburgh Post-Gazette

Even 8-5 will be 2 games ahead of last year. Pretty respectable.

Good coaches win. Look at Harbaugh at Michigan. Improved them by 4 wins. Narduzzi has shown to be a good coach, especially coming to a team that has had lots of turnover and not recruited well as a result.

Couldn't agree more...and you have to pay for good coaches if you want to win.

TaxSlayer Bowl, Belk Bowl, Pinstripe Bowl, Little Caesars Bowl, AdvoCare V100 Texas Bowl,Nova Home Loans Arizona Bowl, Foster Farms Bowl: I remember when bowl games were a reward for a really good season and played somewhere where it was warm. Now I've read there aren't even enough teams with at least .500 records to fill all the bowl slots. Who remembers when most of the bowl games were played on New Year's Day?

I wish they would get rid of the meaningless bowl games and go with a 16 or preferably a 32 game playoff. Limit the regular college season to 10 or 11 games and then start the playoffs.

To play for the PIAA championship, a high school team plays 16 games and the season is over on December 19. Last year it ended on December 12th. Do something similar in college. There is no reason to extend the college season for meaningless games

One can only hope...

There are 40 bowl games this year... 80 teams get to go. There is no prestige anymore

Dead on!!!

$$$ talks though...and people want more football so there's more $$$ to be made.

If the players bodies could take the abuse enough to keep the quality of play up, college and pro football would go year round...especially the NFL.
