"The locusts looked like horses prepared for battle. On their heads they wore something like crowns of gold and their faces resembled human faces. Their hair was like women's hair and their teeth were like lions' teeth. They had breastplates like breastplates of iron and the thundering of many horses and chariots rushing into battle. They had tails and stings like scorpions, and in their tails they had power to torment people for five months." - Revelation 9:7-11 (NIV) This is why genetic engineering needs to be restrained.

For this poll I am not concerned about the hows or the morals, I just want to know if you believe we can or can't right now, or if you think we will ever be able.
Yes we'll be able to. Better humans... that most assuredly will not declare themselves the superior species and try to take over the world in the future.

No, it will always require sperm and egg with their DNA, and neither can be man made. They are God's creations and cannot be duplicated by man.

Well I have an egg and most guys have sperm so basically yeah, we can "make" a person. God isn't in the equation at this point in time.

Okay, I answered wrong b/c I was thinking about procedures like in vitro fertilization where they put the egg and sperm together to create a new life. But I think maybe your question is if we think science can make the egg and sperm to put together or simply create a new life without the sperm and egg. In that case, no, I don't think science can ever create new human beings.

I am talking artificially, but you probably knew that.

Sorry to say, but we are well on our way to becoming "god" in our own right.

BBC News - 'Artificial life' breakthrough announced by scientists

It's really not a matter of whether we can do it anymore... the question is whether we should...

If creating (artificial) DNA is the hurdle you speak of, it has already been done, although not human (yet).

Either it's man made, or product of nature, it cannot be both. Sperm and eggs happen to be products of nature. If man can create the sperm and the egg, and the DNA in it (which is the blueprint of a human being), then you could say that man can create humans. However that is impossible. The cloners make no attempt to create DNA from scratch, because they know it is impossible. All they do is play around with human cells which were created by nature, or God IMO, but we can stick to 'nature' since the word God seems to have hit a nerve.

Did you know that DNA is made up of tightly packed strands, and if you open the DNA strands, and stretch them out, you would need the DNA of only 41 cells to reach the moon?

No my friend, this is not something man can create. Only the hand of God can create something like this.
