I am sure they dream about it all the time, but they also realize they will not be able to get even close.

The cloners make no attempt to create DNA from scratch, because they know it is impossible. All they do is play around with human cells which were created by nature, or God IMO, but we can stick to 'nature' since the word God seems to have hit a nerve.

Did you know that DNA is made up of tightly packed strands, and if you open the DNA strands, and stretch them out, you would need the DNA of only 41 cells to reach the moon?

No my friend, this is not something man can create. Only the hand of God can create something like this.

Yeah but, all that must have happened by accident or evolved from what?

Even Einstain said it was no accident.

For this poll I am not concerned about the hows or the morals, I just want to know if you believe we can or can't right now, or if you think we will ever be able.

Define "human".

Can we clone a human being and implant that into a woman for her to give birth 9 months later? Sure.

Is science "creating" it? No. They're simply using another means of reproduction. I personally prefer the old fashioned kind.

A definitive answer serves no purpose. I don't tend to think of issues like this in terms of a belief. I think of them in terms of what I know. I don't know for sure if we have the technology to do such now. I don't know if we will ever be able to do such.

This might be a more relevant question to ask someone who is a specialist in the related fields. Their answer may be rooted in more of a valid assumption, unless people here are such, their answers are rather meaningless because none of them can provide any shred of support to their claim. /shrug

My answer is an emphatic YES to creating a human/humanoid type being. As to a question of when. Probably by the end of this century, if not sooner.

In vitro? What is the standard to having "created" life? Men and women jointly do this every day, without the help of "science". Are you asking if science will ever be able to completely replace the natural process of pregnancy and childbirth with something else?

With the cloning going on that we know about, I would not be the least bit surprised to hear of some nefarious experiments going on in some secret government lab out in the middle of the desert.

Should We Clone Neanderthals?

They won't know if they are able, until they try.
