The bolded portion of your post disses Democrats. The underlined portion states that you are OK with rich people spending their money. The red portion of your post complains about "people in the gov't" spending money while others are going broke.
So, what do you really believe here? Your post (in red) indicates that you feel that the rich should not spend while there are so many others who are in financial distress. Yet, you clearly state (underlined) that you are all for the rich spending what they can afford. Which is it?

Again, which is it? Should the rich be required to share their wealth (socialism!! ) or should they be free to spend as they like - without snarky comments from the peons - because, after all, they earned it??
The wealthy Repubs should be able to keep and spend their money however they choose. The rest of us, not so much.
To put it very simply, there are a bunch of people who will now have $3-5 million that used to belong to 2 people. Not to mention all the (rich) guests and the money they will spend. Those bunch of people that make the money off of this wedding can then spend that money on other things, in effect multiplying that original $3-5 million. It's econ 101...on the first day of class.
It's hilarious watching some of these righties contort themselves on this manufactured "issue". One in a LONG line of manufactured issues streaming from the fringers on the Right.
We're told only "commies" complain about how people spend their private wealth... until it's a Democrat spending it. You can't write this stuff -- it's that comical -- in the tragic sense.

most on this thread, whether lib or conservative are not complaining, but many are just stating that is a HELL of a lot of money for a couple of hours. Show me more than a couple of responses where people are complaining. Just stating facts isn't complaining.
Arkansas Razorbacks's Homecoming--one day event, and a boon to the local economy in Northwest Arkansas. This is the same kind of thing. People will be staying at hotels. Restaurant receipts will be way up. People will run into the drugstore to replace the toothbrush they forgot, or to pick up shampoo, or visit local stores to buy a souvenir of their weekend and the wedding. It is illogical for you to not recognize this.
come on DC, you are totally spinning this: what I said was, to use the economy to justify the cost of the wedding is CRAP, I am not saying it won't temp help the economy. Which by the way, in the area where the wedding is taking place, I am sure the economy is doing fine.
I said, sure, for 1 day the money will be coming into the area, but for anyone to reason the way the responder did is what is crap. Yes, the money will flow back into the local economy.
Chielgirl, made it sound like the Clintons sat down with their daughter and asked her what kind of a wedding she wanted. She told them, they did what she wanted, plus maybe more, who knows and who cares. While doing this they said to each other (they probably don't even talk to each other when they don't have to) just think, we will show what good citizens we are by spending all this money so the economy in this locale will do better. It is an unbelievable amount. E! or a similar show previewed some of the expenditures. The 'portapottys' were more like a guest bathroom @ $15,000 each I believe.
In addition to the Hollywood A-List, dignitaries from across the globe have been invited and I suppose you must entertain them in the style to which they have become accustomed.
One article said that Chelsea appears to be preparing to head The Clinton Foundation/her father's legacy. Perhaps the cost of the wedding is insignificant in comparison to the financial support previously given or that which will be needed in the future.
Vera Wang or Oscar de la Renta is the real question.
When Hillary stated on tv that Chelsey is only inviting her friends....and than hearing $ 500K for flowers. 3-5 million for the wedding...to me that was so dishonest.
I really couldn't give a damn if they have a 10 million dollar wedding, but at least be honest and not so fake.
The Clintons have money and one daughter, so why not have a nice wedding but always the fake remarks....and than stating how the economy is bad and how everybody has to change things...

I don't understand the connection between inviting "friends and people that have been meaningful in her life," and spending a lot of money.
