Another area manse rumored to be serving the family over the weekend will be Glenburn, where the Clintons are said to be staying (http://www.thehudsonvalleynews.com/HVNews/Blog/Entries/2010/7/23_HVNews_Confirms_Clintons_are_staying_Glenburn,_ the_Rhinebeck_home_of_Eric_and_Andrea_Colombel.htm l - broken link) over the weekend. I reckon the Clinton's can afford it. Bill pulls down a hefty sum for speaking engagements and Hillary still has a job. On the other hand, when GW has a speaking engagement down at the "Piggly Wiggly" he's paid with a tuna sandwich and a bag of pork rinds.

As long as the Clintons foot the bill including the tab for any additional security I have no issue with it.
But can anyone still claim that the Clintons understand the common man now?

I doubt that anyone growing up as poor as Bill Clinton ever forgets what it was like.

Hmmm. The saying Time heals all wounds comes to mind. In my experience that is quite true.
I doubt that Niether Bill Hillary or Chelse can relate to the common man.
I grew up on a small dairy farm. Worked long hours 365 days a year. Do I remember the hours, the holidays I worked? Of course. Do I still feel the pain? No. The only thing that keeps me grounded is the fact that I help out on my neighbors farm.
No they can't relate nor do they want to. Its easier to simply talk the talk.

I have a question... will Chelsea claim the 3 Million dollar wedding as a TAXABLE gift event? I mean her parents are paying, isn't that a "gift" and shouldn't it be taxed? Or is Chelsea going to conveniently forget the gift... I am sure Chelsea hasn't worked enough to earn 3 Million but I could be wrong...

Even if this were considered a gift for tax purposes, gifts are not taxable to the recipient.

Correct, usually the donor will pay however it can be requested that the donee pay instead... it is acceptable to IRS, so you are saying the Clintons are going to pay the gift tax??

Succinct and to the point. Couldn't have said it better.

I would add, however, that it's a wonderful thing to have rich people to employ (directly or indirectly) countless numbers of people.

Nobody invented poverty because poverty ALWAYS exists... there will always be someone who is paid at the bottom... Even in socialism, ironic isn't it?
