Christians could set an example, if they weren't so hung up on pushing their myth based agenda. Live and let live.

Christians are the ones who were insrtructed to set a good example.

Atheists owe no one an example....but they do set a very good one

Christmas in America is an exuberant display of human ingenuity, capitalist productivity, and the enjoyment of life. Yet all of these are castigated as "materialistic"; the real meaning of the holiday, we are told, is assorted Nativity tales and altruist injunctions (e.g., love thy neighbor) that no one takes seriously.

In fact, Christmas as we celebrate it today is a 19th-century American invention. The freedom and prosperity of post-Civil War America created the happiest nation in history. The result was the desire to celebrate, to revel in the goods and pleasures of life on earth. Christmas (which was not a federal holiday until 1870) became the leading American outlet for this feeling.

Historically, people have always celebrated the winter solstice as the time when the days begin to lengthen, indicating the earth's return to life. Ancient Romans feasted and reveled during the festival of Saturnalia. Early Christians condemned these Roman celebrations -- they were waiting for the end of the world and had only scorn for earthly pleasures. By the fourth century, the pagans were worshipping the god of the sun on December 25, and the Christians came to a decision: if you can't stop 'em, join 'em. They claimed (contrary to known fact) that the date was Jesus' birthday, and usurped the solstice holiday for their Church.

At the same time, every car that drives by that billboard (or even more people who see it online -- look, there are almost 900 posts here!), must make a decision... about an annual 'celebration' that they and so many 'celebrate.' "What exactly are you celebrating?? The Atheist billboard is probably even more effective in drawing attention to Jesus Christ ... than all of the "Jesus is the reason for the season" signs combined.

But, that is always the way it works for those who seek to attack or ridicule Christ! -- Satan thought he had won ... for three days! -- Maybe the Christians should put up a similar sign at Easter ... to again draw attention to the amazing and wonderful truth of Jesus Christ!
Yeah we can all celebrate the amazing and wonderful truth that Christianity hijacked pagan religious celebrations! You do realize that Christmas and Easter are just pagan holidays with a Christian spin right?

So why don't you become an agnostic then? Atheists have made NO "leap of faith," it requires NO faith to say that you do not believe in a deity. There is no reason, no logic, and no evidence that calls out for a god. I do not believe there is a god, but even if there was and he was the Christian God I wouldn't worship him anyway. I find the god of the Christian Bible to be a sadistic, mass murdering lunatic and I don't find him worthy of praise. Just because (hypothetically) he's god doesn't put him above scrutiny. If a human being had been behind the slaughter and carnage of the Old Testament and the extortion racket of "Hell" in the New Testament they'd be labeled as a "terrorist," "anti-social," "psychotic," etc. Instead god gets worshiped and praised!

As an atheist, I love Christmas. It's the best Roman pagan holiday of the year.

Maybe signs that say "Spend time with your family" or "Enjoy some quality time with your extended family"

Upside down cross would be a satanic church, and they already have their own church.

The real question is........ "how come scientists can't make dirt??

A scientist said he could create a man out of nothing. So he challenged God saying he could make a better man than Him. So God reached down into the dirt, breathed on it and made a man. Then he said to the scientist, "Your turn." The scientist stooped over, scooped up some dirt, and God said "Get your own dirt.",
