I would like to know if atheists have anything to replace Christmas with. You can't make people stop something they think is wonderful and leave a void. That is why this is so laughable. Do atheists really think people will stop Christmas and believing in God?

This is why there are only around 2% non-believers in America, if that many. I heard atheists need to put up billboards and whine around Christmas because they feel alone this time of year. I'm sorry they feel alone but I can't help what they think or chose to do, none of us can.

Even Scrooge had to change and come in out of the cold to the welcoming arms of family and the warmth of the fire.

First off, there are way more than 2% of Americans who do not believe in religion. There are many Americans who do not believe in organized religion.

Second, not everyone who believes in a higher power believes in YOUR definition of it.

You have a very I'm right always attitude because someone told me it was true, so it must be true. Not everything Pat Robertson says is true.

The billboard is not doing anything to prevent your celebration of the holiday in a manner in which you choose. You can simply ignore it, much like what many of us tried to do during sponsored public school prayer.

FYI I am not an atheist, but I believe religion should be a private matter.

Imagine no religion? Why imagine? Move to North Korea or Cuba, religion doesn't exist there. Have fun, I'm sure leftists would love those countries, after-all, they're striving to reach an egalitarian utopia.

A Satan worshiper killed John Lennon. Nope, don't think I will go there.

I think the US has a good balance. Religion is completely free and voluntarily.

You are right about North Korea and Cuba. But on the flip side there is Saudi Arabia and Iran.

The best balance is when people have the freedom to chose their worship practices, but also when the government is removed from it.

So why throw cold water on believers in a God who come together at Christmas time? We may not all believe the same way but we all believe in a God. Those who do not can ignore Christmas so why whine about it?

If any group in this country has tried to force their beliefs on anyone else, is is Bible Belt conservative Protestants. There are many Protestants who do not, but the vast majority of forcing a belief system comes from politically and religiously conservative Protestants. It is a constant barrage since the early 19th century.

19th century- Many states required Protestant religious affiliation to hold public office
Beginnings of the temperance movement
Forced prayer in public schools
Anti Semitism
Anti Catholicism
Nativist movement (anti immigration)

20th century- Temperance movement
"Moral values"
Anti pornography
Anti abortion
Anti homosexual rights
Insistance on prayer in public schools
Restrictions on free speech dealing with above issues that are contrary to their beliefs

Mike Huckabee is a prime example of above.

Silly thing is those who think people can leave their faith outside. It a part of people and no person can be that divided.

Sure, but the billboard isn't trashing Muhammad. I'm a lapsed Catholic, non-believer, agnostic or atheist, whatever. However, I realize, at its core, that western culture was built upon Judeo-Christian principals and that the catholic church is largely responsible for building the greatest countries man has ever inhabited. Yes, they're illegal immigrant loving goons who covered up mass kiddy rape, but it's the message and its accomplishments, not the organization, that I focus on.

They usually say dont shoot the messenger, but in this case, I will(figuratively, of course). The message isn't the problem, it's those who are spreading it and at the time they're deciding to do so. Does the godless message not resonate as well in October or July? And if not, when your message only has certain meaning at certain times of the year, that means your message isn't being delivered as clearly as need be.

It's the same principle as why the Ku Klux Klan demonstrates in Chicago and Detroit as opposed to middle of redneck nowhere Georgia.

It is the way to get media attention.
