As an agnostic, I say let them retain it, cut the size of our government to just what the Constitution allows for and make the rest of us tax exempt.

It just seems like it would just be a matter of churches changing their tax filling status.

Anyway, anyone who is more familiar with non-profits and taxes, please chime in.
Non profit institutions becomes an odd cat when huge sums of money are lobbying the government and worse, the religion itself is worshiping money. Profit preachers... I wish the vatican would pick it's battles more wisely. Charity status is abused too often by people writing their own salary requirements. Most legitimate clergy already abide higher standards than secular law requires and I believe that loop hole could stand to be tightened up. I'd hate to see legitimate charitable function be undermined by government. I'm on the fence but can agree it needs examination, and consider a yes vote if it's gone about fairly.

Religion and Pharmaceuticals are the two most profitable industries on the planet and they're both selling the same product. Tax 'em.

this poll is telling.. time to slap em with a tax bill!
I had a mormon employee once ALWAYS complaining about needing, wanting a raise..
I told him to quit being mormon and he'd get a 10 percent raise..
He didn't like that.. and never asked me again.
They give 10 percent of everything to their church..and have it set up to be automatically deducted from their payslip before they get their check.. it's insane

A thread like this really brings the big guv nutters out.

It must irk them that churches exist on money collected through voluntary contributions, while their church ( the state) has to steal it to survive.
Envy at it's best.
