No, everything sucks because of discrimination(housing, employment, education, and policing) and deliberate inequality which only exacerbates other areas of life.

You sound very proud of illegal immigration and the "handouts" in America. You also make it sound as we take in "poor people" willingly and voluntarily.

If Canada was adjacent to Mexico, you can bet your bottom dollar that illegal immigrants would be flooding Canada, too. It's hard to get to Canada from Mexico on foot.

There were YouTube clips a few years ago showing black guys being barred from Canadian clubs. Not to mention the treatment the Nova Scotia Blacks have experienced over the years.
Um, hate crimes, cop killings, explicit hate speech or degradation in the media/stereotypes in the media. Politicians openly making racist comments/dog whistles.

Harper is a scumbag there's no doubt about it-- but he would never go totally GOP and destroy public health care. It would be political suicide. Also, he's going to lose the next election... his stronghold just voted for the socialists (but they're not actually socialists), and people are just generally disgusted with how he's running things.

Canada was in better shape after 2007/2008 because the 13-year old left-wing government at the time RESISTED deregulation and didn't open the way to the mess that the US experienced. Harper then swooped in and did nothing while taking the credit for actions that he actively OPPOSED.

Canada is predominantly liberal and the only reason the right has any power at all is because there are 4 significant left-wing parties and only one right wing one. The election process in Canada means you can rise to power with 37.7% of the vote... hardly a clear indicator the Canada is big on conservatism.

Most of the states you mentioned are right wing. So yes they are very different than Canada. Now culturally yes Canada is not much different than the US. TV, movies, daily life. But there simply isn't' the same level of social conservatism, religion, or racism. That is a fact.

It sounds like Canada should get rid of first past the post. I wish the US had instant run off. It would solve a lot of issues.

Either that or we need to make coalition governments more acceptable.
When you have 62% voting left and a right wing government, something is very very wrong.

Can't be all that bad, I see tons of cars with license plates from Ontario and Quebec all up and down the east coast. And you have Canadians living in major urban areas across this country.
