No, they don't start investigations on a whim. But they do investigate based on what the administration wants. And it's pretty obvious this administration will take the opportunity, if it presents itself, to silence a perceived threat. Because we all know this thin-skinned president is childish.

I don't know about Fox News in particular, but things are looking increasingly worse for News Corp - more to the point, News International - in general. The Head of the Met has just resigned over this scandal.
