Up front. But then when you look at what their actual liabilities are you'll quickly see they have a negative liability. Once you factor in all the fudging they in fact don't pay anything and that includes local and state taxes.

Here's a multiple choice question for you... how did 90.9% of the people get jobs in this country:

A. They complained about the lack of jobs and refused to even look
B. They actually went out and pounded the pavement to find jobs
C. They assumed that because unemployment is high there are absolutely zero jobs to be had in this country
D. They went to an OWS protest and screamed and cried

His situation is simple-- if he doesn't have any upward mobility in his company, and they aren't paying him enough he has 2 options... complain about it, or do something about it (look for another job or start his own business). This is why we live in a free country.
No, 90.9% of the population does not have jobs. Please do some research.
And do some reading. He stated that where he lives the pay scale is inordinately low. There are places like that. And poverty keeps those people there, because they struggle to pay their debts, and the cycle of debt traps them there. You damn them if they skip out on those debts, and you damn them if they stay somewhere where they are, at least, working. There are poor people in our country. Poor people who work hard to scrape enough to get by. There will always be poor people, for one reason or another. Blaming people for being poor is senseless, it makes no sense, and the only reason people do it is to justify their own lack of compassion.

Is there a way to get something by doing nothing at all and just complaining?
Rich people inherit. Connected people use their connections.

Yeah, YOUR attitude.

I pay taxes. I work multiple jobs.

And I don't look down on people who don't pay federal income taxes, because I know they work hard for what they have, too. Are there some free-loaders in the world? Yep! But 47% of our population are not free-loaders. That's the attitude that you and the "WE ARE THE 53%" have. And it's wrong.

Ok then-- so what is your suggestion for the gentleman who can't get paid more at his current job and there is no upward mobility there?

My suggestion was to look for another job... What is yours?

(... I'm pretty sure my solution is the only solution in this case...)

Surprise! Who's not paying federal income tax?
Exactly. That's why we need a flat tax. Too many are paying NO federal income tax whatsoever. They could NOT care less how irresponsible D.C. politicians are with taxpayer money because VERY LITTLE of it came out of their wallets. It's completely unsustainable.

What would we do with all the money suddenly actually circulating in the economy, if we don't send half of it to be wasted by Washington politicians on pork and corruption?
Restore a healthy economy.

I just hope 99% of the population doesn't have to starve before we realize Big Government has DESTROYED the American dream, and replaced it with hopeless stagnation.
I'm not very optimistic on that. Look at how underinformed the OWS protesters and libs are on the causes of our current economic condition. They'll have to learn the hard way. It will take the starvation of many, unfortunately.

I said millions. Not "Most". No, $2k cash is not prosperous. But if you have $2k cash and no debt, you are in a very good position to become prosperous. Millions of Americans started with nothing and became prosperous. Not rich, but comfortable.

We definitely do not have an economy where the majority of people can get ahead.
All able bodied people with decent intelligence can "get ahead". And that's by far the majority.

Quote:
That is a bold faced lie. How can people get ahead when there are 4 applicants for every job? Show me the math of how that works.
How can we prosper when the jobs are being exported faster than they can be created?
140,000,000 Americans have jobs. You "get ahead" by living within your means, not getting into debt and working your butt off. That's how it's always been and how it always will be.

There were 3.1 million job openings at the end of August. You only need one of those 3.1 million.

15 million Americans get HIRED every year.

Quote:
Just because some people get ahead in no way means everyone is able to.
Some people win the lottery, but you cannot base an economy on it.
True. Those with disabilities are at a disadvantage. But even some of them "get ahead".

You don't need to win the lottery to "get ahead". Most people with a comfortable financial situation worked to get there.

I know you really do not want to be bothered with facts; you just want someone to pat you on the back because you feel you are not being fairly recognized for your accomplishment.
What facts are those?
