This whole argument is silly. This is an outpost in a remote region in Afghanistan. It's not a political statement, it's a logistics issue. They simply can't support having extra material, such as these books, on site. Because one guy took pictures and tried to infer some political statement does not make it so. After looking at the article, even the guy who posted the pictures said it wasn't a political statement. The reality is that any package such as this, regardless of the author, would have met the same end.
True. But the point is...can you imagine what sort of a self-absorbed tool just had to have picked this of all things to send to troops over there?
I'm aware of the historical implications of book-burning. I won't say I didn't take pleasure in removing a few copies of this bigoted twerp's writings from circulation, but the reason for doing so was military necessity.
From what I understand from the article, it was O'Riley himself, through a charity, who sent the books?
What a bunch of dopes...They can't have anybodies political books over there period even if someone on the left wrote a book worth reading they couldn't have bunch's of them either......They had to do the same thing with a bunch of Bibles printed in Arabic a few years ago..You people are pathetic with your hate mongering. Perhaps if you grew a pair you could enlist and go over and help people like my son so then you could see the reality's of military life on the ground......
So some soldiers burned O'Reilly's book and you love the troops for that? Do you also love the troops who didn't burn the books and put their lives on the line for you each day?
Why must everything turn into a political statement?
How is the OP doing that? The troops themselves burned the books of an outspoken right wing blowhard. It's difficult to claim the OP is exploiting the troops for political points. The response however absolutely was.

From the OP:
Quote:
Some idiot teabagger
Quote:
burn the worthless volumes of right wing propaganda
Quote:

Nope, not political at all.
