I will answer back to ridiculous assumptions about people who do or don't believe in a 'god" or "gods"
You find it ridiculous, but others don't. You can disagree with someone's beliefs without being disrespectful and rude about it.

I have stated on this very thread that I have my beliefs and respect the beliefs or others. What others do is beyond my control. Have you seen any posts where I have mocked or been disrespectful to athiests or Muslims?
A whole bunch of you have compared a prez thanking god to an Iranian theocracy. A coocoo comparison on many levels. Well, Obama Did thank god in the proclamation. I don't care one way or another. What's kind of amusing is that he's being praised by anti-theists and knocked by others for not thanking 'sky-daddy', when in fact, he did 'give thanks to God for the many kindnesses and comforts that grace our lives.'
If he did say that, it was a stupid thing to say, frankly...
I don't know if he meant it, I hope not. Maybe he was just saying what he knows voters want to hear
Makes me think of those stupid Gospel lyrics. Why can't people just be proud of themselves when they have accomplished something? Which parents would tell their kids they should thank gods for their good marks at school? But for whatever reason adults behave more childishly than children sometimes.

Don't tell me you have not seen atheists and Muslims being mocked. But since you don't share their system or belief, you turned a blind eye. Just couldn't handle one poster respond to another because you ended up in agreement with that one. Your response:
"But for those of us who have our beliefs but respect the beliefs of others, we still see the attacks and insinuation of being naive against those who believe in a higher power, and while not directed at us personally, it's still hard not to take offense."
I don't take it personally when atheists are attacked.
I don't care.

I see that as a "believer" you left out the part of my post where I asked you to use reason and logic(bolded above).....that explains everything.
If you so easily allow others to offend you I suggest you find another forum....

No, I have not seen athiests attacked on this forum. Not to say that it doesn't happen, but I can't recall seeing it. It's not a question of being able to "handle" one poster respond to another, and I was not "in agreement" with the OP, if you bothered to read all of my posts instead of picking the parts you want to attack me on you'd know that. It was politely stating that others who are not on the extremes find it offensive. I don't understand your issue with that.

I haven't seen any anti-muslim threads lately, but if I see one come up I'll make sure to comment. For the record, since you haven't seen any comment from me, I respect the views of Muslims. I'm not ignorant enough to think they are all the same, that they all think we're infidels, etc. Just like any religion they have extremists who make the entire collective look bad. If you're a Muslim, Buddist, athiest, or whatever, I respect your beliefs because what YOU believe does not affect ME. The difference is, I don't attack others' beliefs like some on this forum do. It is only when someone's beliefs cause them to perform acts of violence or force their beliefs on others that I have a problem.
It's threads like this that prompt me to get down on my knees and give thanks to the Good Lord Jesus that I'm a liberal
