2012 GOP SLOGAN SUGGESTION, "JUST SAY NO TO EDUCATION"

From the OP:
Well it would under "demonizing teachers" wouldn't it ?

NYC is not exactly sitting on piles of cash for education you know and that $650K could well be used elsewhere.

So basically the OP and all of the liberal sack riders want to talk about the "GOP" going after teachers but when people bring up countless instances of bad teachers the OP and the same liberal sack riders want to deem that off topic and don't want it discussed?

And people wonder why liberals are laughed at in every corner of this nation.

The point is this, get the federal government's nose out of our schools. We have state and local government, and even local school boards and a PTA. How about we abolish the federal DOE and just give that money back to the states?
Why is it that those who seem to view anything federal as bad consistently seem to have no problem increasing the DoD budget year after year? Why is it they believe we can efficiently? build over-priced, uneeded WMDs but are incapable of figuring out how to teach kids?

Now you're just bashing teachers again.

Then we have Santorum, who has publicly stated that he thinks Obama wants more people to get a college education so that they can be "indoctrinated."

All sing along now:

"We don't need no.... edjucationnnnnnnn"

This thread isn't about the DOD or WMDs, it's about being "anti-education" (not really, it's just another way to bash conservatives but pay no attention to the lefty idiots behind the curtain.)

Well we are #36 worldwide in math skills and fall lower each time the test is given. So there might be some truth to your statement.

In 2003 we were #25.

FEH! When someone brings up the federal government as if it's all bad I want to know why they have no problem with their own chosen parts.

I agree about it being an utter waster of money. My sister teaches 8th grade writing. You wouldn't believe the waste of money that occurs in her area at the administrative level. It's absolutely ridiculous!! And some of the teachers are worthless . . . some, not all.

But this is same old, same old. The OP is talking about what the 2012 GOP candidates are saying and how what they say demonizes not just teachers, specially, but learning generally. What Santorum says about the "Father of Lies" working through the "pride of smart people" doesn't just condemn certain practices in the educational system, whether at the elementary, secondary, or post-secondary level, but learning generally. He's essentially saying that reason is the work of the Devil. That is a whole other level of critique--fear-mongering really--than those critiques that argue that the educational system has severe problems.
