More than that a precedent has been set for the Federal Government to now tax you for inaction, for NOT doing something. At least before you were taxed for buying something, gas or something. Now you can be taxed for failing to do something. Didn't exercise this week? That'll be an additional tax, Sir.

which precedent?
because that matters. if you refer to the commerse clause, the Chief Justice disagrees. He upheld the law because he says it is a tax and therefore within congresses perview.

However, if that is true then Obama LIED to us when this was being debated and voted on because he said then it was NOT a tax.

precedent is not the issue. any good lawyer not clouded by personal desire to see universal healthcare understands that.

We have no choice but to live with the ruling. But it needs to be very clear that Mr. Obama and the democrats LIED to the American people.

Not to mention they focused on healthcare while the economy was aflame. nice. we still have not recovered BECAUSE Mr. Obama was more interested in getting a healthcare bill passed than he was saving millions of American JOBS.

Seriously do the math, you might pay less to just pay out of pocket.

If you're paying more for insurance than out of pocket, drop it and pay the penalty. There's no longer any risk under Obamacare. You can get insurance again in case something happens because he removed the pre-existing clause with Obamacare. Law of unintended consequences, it's going to be Obama's bane.

This is true.. we lost our freedom when they turned a mandate into a tax.. they still have the mandate on us through a tax. Nothing was defeated. The mandate stands and the constitution was duped and the people who are not paying attention is duped.

Obamacare is nothing but a humongous tax and as a result millions of jobs will be lost because small businesses can not pay the outrageous tax imposed by Obama and the democrats.

See ya in November.

No, the Fed is subsidizing up to 96% of premiums to those that qualify.

It's not just pay or tax. You are going to get taxed as well. The penalty is just if you don't get insurance.
There are additional taxes because the government is subsidizing premiums.

If it's a tax, does this mean that tax legislation may now originate in the Senate?

If I'm understanding it correctly, a guy who earns $35,000 a year, and can't afford $5,000 a year or more, for Obama's Cadillac health insurance mandate, will not only go w/o health insurance, but Obama will punish him with a $2,200 tax penalty.
