Yeah those type of strange things could occur in this one for sure. The dog and pony show are out in full force with the media blaring any distractions they can.

Default Interesting comment after the article---

Let’s see. Generals involved in Adultry. FBI Agent perverts. Anthony Weiner flashing his Weiner. Secret Service agents ripping off Prostitutes in South America. ATF agents supplying weapons to the drug cartel in Mexico resulting in possibly hundreds, if not thousand of deaths out of the greater than 50,000 deaths in Mexico. A possibly rigged Presidential election. Neutering of the U.S. Congress. Greater poverty than there was 4 years ago. The greatest divide among Americans that has ever existed. Secret whispers to Vladimer’s underling that promises we will be subservient to Russia caught on tape. Bowing to Islamic radicals that want us all dead. A botched abduction of a US Ambassador in Libya resulting in the death of 4 Americans, two of which were extraordinary heros, and the subsequent cover up This is just the tip of the iceberg of the real Obama legacy. This doesn’t even include Eric Holder and his legacy. To think that Obama is worried about his legacy, and that will guide his next 4 years is ludicrous.

No soap opera could think of this. Can you imagine too hot chicks fighting over Petraeus? LOL

From my understanding is that the consulate doubled as a CIA safe house and they had some people in there interogating them, the general knew this and let some classified information leak to his mistress. The state dept found out and questioned him about it, and rather than go before the committee he promptly retired.

This maybe a conspiracy theory but I have to admit that it would make sense.

Errrr, the democrats can also take some responsibility for stupid remarks and actions. I saw the campaign from both sides as being about who could say/do the most stupidest thing. I think they came out even.

My possibliity was about "THEN" not now. Obviously the Rs didn't have to do anything for this to come out.

Yeah, like that's going to happen!

This guy was shown the door because he knows tooooooo much information. So what do they do? Have him resign....shame him in public over adultry....discredit him for disgracing his family.....and act like he doesn't represent the Administration any longer because he's a cheater. It's the classic Washington case of getting rid of someone who has honor and dignity lest they actually tell the truth.

You don't understand it do you Fro? Patreaus could single-handedly take down the Obama Administration if he wanted to. The quicker they can get him out of town, the better in the eyes of Barack Obama.
The Congress can Subpoena him to testify whether he is Director of the CIA or a private Citizen, it doesn't matter.

I am completely puzzled by this news headline. Petraeus being a bastard to his wife and a poor excuse of a Husband surely has nothing to do with his ability and competence in his professional capacity.

I do not take kindly to men who cheat on their wives ( or women cheats either) but I simply cannot see what the big deal is about in terms of his Job ? Surely it is between Him his Wife, His Mistress and Her Husband and has nothing to do with the Nation or his job ? Did he reveal any classified secrets to his mistress during "pillow talk" ? Was he a public proponent of marital faithfulness and morality ? If not why the heck should he resign at all ? I just find it utterly bizarre.

I do not know all the ins and outs of the story but it puzzles me , is there something else which is not being discussed ? And please no garbage about the rats leaving the sinking ship.

An adult and mature answer which is non partisan would be msot welcome and appreciated.

Mostly the story is being driven by the media thirst for sensation, facts are quite irrelevant. But the authorities need to investigate to make sure there is no others involved and any actual security issues. They will eventually get to the bottom of it all.

Sadly he was in a very important position with knowledge of lots of secrets. His lack of judgement in having a affair and sharing info with her ment he had to resign.
