Where does it stop?
...and what exactly is an "assault weapon?"

Then again, this comes from a New York guy, where you can't even own a big soda pop.

Assault rifles have been banned for almost 50 years. What are you talking about?

No sir, I've seen dozens of posts here on C-D threatening armed rebellion if WE THE PEOPLE decide we want fewer guns. Own it.
My weapons have never gone anywhere but hunting or the shooting range. The rest of the time they are locked in a large safe.

A dozen posts on a single forum isn't representative of gun owners anymore than Che G. is representative of all liberals.

Research is your friend. The firearms industry accounts for about $4 billion in federal and state taxes alone. Sales numbers are much higher.

You did not read what he said ( in your fast fury to defend shooters). There is a difference between assault weapons and "Modern sporting Guns". We need to follow the guidelines of others who have gone through this, like Ca. when identifying which guns are used for what, I agree with that, Surely you do too ? I also agree there is a time and place ( sadly ) for assault weapons, read my earlier post about my Bushmaster.

That is what I use to think as well. Then, in 1989, Los Angeles County banned numerous firearms, with no grandfather clause, and turned me into a criminal overnight. Just because of weapons I had legally purchased in California a few years earlier.

Never again will I say that "it cannot happen here."

This may be an excellent time to galvanize support for not only ending “Criminal Safe Zones” but to repeal all that other legislation that has no other purpose but to incrementally disarm the people and empower the government.
[] End the tax / ban on suppressors
[] End the tax / ban on automatic weaponry
[] End the tax / ban on modified weapons
[] Only blame the perpetrator, not the tools he uses to inflict harm
And if they won't comply
[] threaten them with wholesale withdrawal from the socialist democratic form.

Your logic is lacking and extremely dangerous. The concept of "settle down now, nobody is going to take your guns" is an empty and defunct position as politicians clamor with anti-gun rhetoric and legislation to attack our 2nd Amendment rights.

Information revealed showed that Fast & Furious was an effort to gain momentum for more far reaching control over Federally Licensed Firearm dealers, painting them as the culprits for so many weapons being attained by Mexican drug cartels. This extremely illegal activity conducted by federal law enforcement shows that these criminals will stop at nothing to advance their agenda ... knowing that an outright ban might be politically impossible, they take jabs and cuts, little by little, hoping to inflict death to the 2nd Amendment by a thousand wounds.

Tragedies like the elementary school murders immediately turned to the psychological war on all of us ... and MAKE NO MISTAKE ... the goal here is to convince Americans to demand more and more firearm restrictions .... problem-reaction-solution is well in play here. These anti-gun legislators and their compliant media hacks jump on these events like a pack of wolves to exploit the emotions of Americans, and their deluded left wing sycophantic fan club have jumped right aboard with some of the most despicable rhetoric I've ever heard ... like calling for the assassination of NRA members ... blaming gun owners for this horrific tragedy. It's sickening and disgusting and paints a clear picture of reality. We cannot let our guard down, or underestimate the enemies of this country .... they are everywhere ... they litter the halls of congress and the White House ... they occupy seats on the high court ... and they are your next door neighbors who don't possess the wisdom necessary to understand the implications of supporting this anti 2nd Amendment movement.

And finally ... your comments about this being a "capitalist system" with gun manufacturing and sales being so vital to the nation's economic health, ignores the reality that we face ... and the deliberate destruction of our economy by the malfeasance and overt criminal conduct of the financial sector, and the decades long move to destroy US manufacturing by transferring most of it offshore. Furthermore, weapons manufacturing and sales could be easily maintained for export, while outlawing domestic distribution.

The reality is, we have one group doing everything they can to destroy the 2nd Amendment, another element too dense to recognize the agenda being implemented, and then there is the apathy crowd such that you're demonstrating ... "go back to sleep .. nothing to see here" ... which only serves to assist that agenda.

The primary purpose of all weapons control legislation is to disarm the relativly poor. The plutocrats fear a well armed population and always have.

As far as owning an "assault weapon" (say any full automatic firearm) I would like to have a Thompson Sub machine gun just because they are easy to shoot. I would also like an M-3 "burp" or "grease" gun also because it is a simple design, reliable and easy to use.

FWIW - I am, except for a slight disregard for speed limits, a Law Abiding Citizen.
