He got approval to invade a nation not to just drop a few bombs. Big big difference. Which is why dropping the bombs on Lybia didn't need congressional approval. And by the way, all republicans agreed but only a few democrats agreed but unfortunately it was enough.

Personally, I hope we don't do anything but I think Obama is backing himself into a corner especially since Britain has backed away.
I feel if we do launch missiles, things are gonna turn ugly very quickly.

How about taking out some minor remote sandy targets but then have a couple of "collateral" damage missiles that take out Assad? Just a thought.

Actually no, there isnt a big difference.. An act of war, is an act of war.

Or dont you think bombing another country is to be taken by the receiving nation as war, and thus we over reacted when we responded to the bombing of Pearl Harbor?

What? The POTUS can't just attack another country without Congressional approval. It doesn't matter how he chooses to attack. The bombing of Libya was illegal.

Prove it. Republicans apparently know more about the what Obama can do than you do.

Exactly. It's not about doing the right thing. It's about agreeing with whatever it is my party wants.

Pathetic.

So if some country just wanted to "drop a few bombs" in the US it's not an act of war.

And those "few bombs" we dropped in Libya turned out to be a few HUNDRED bombs.

Ever heard of this thing called the War Powers Act?

War Powers Resolution - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

BTW: If you decide to take the typical Obama supporter approach here and declare the source to be invalid please post which sources you consider valid. Then I'll post some information from those sources.

Thanks

So the next time North Korea loads their missiles and points them to the US it won't be an act of war because there's no boots on the ground ?

The Japanese didn't have any boots on the ground when they bombed Pearl Harbor.
The Germans didn't have any boots on the ground when they sunk passenger ships in WWI

But now the definition of an act of war has changed based on new Democratic interpretation of the law.

Somehow I have a sneaking feeling that Obama is about to make the Repubs look real foolish ... again. It will be interesting to hear what Kerry has to say today.
