The last time the GOP was in such bad shape as it is now, their minority lasted for over 20 years.
And the party wasn't split down the middle then. I seriously doubt the Democrats will regret the rule change for a very long time to come. The tea party rattlesnake will continue to bite the Republican party in the neck for as long as it survives.
The Democrats won't regret it because even if the Republicans gain a majority in the Senate in the 2014 midterms, it won't be large enough to override a Presidential veto and they won't even sniff the White House again for a long time.
You haven't been keeping up again, I see. The House shut the government down by failing to pass a funding bill.
Even after their $24 billion dollar folly hit them upside the head like a brick, the House still couldn't get their act together and pass a funding bill. They had to count on Reid and McConnell to do it for them.
You should pay more attention, Chuck. It was all over the news for a month. Were you hiding under your rock again?
WOW...actualy, if you would have been paying attention to the news and really doing a little research on your part, you would understand that the houes gave obama what he wanted....and obama still denied it...
Here, 1st grade easy for you....
#1, the house said: repeal the ACA - obama said no
Then
#2, the house said: delay the ACA - obama said no
Then:
#3, the house said: delay the mandate - obama said no
So, please tell me who has been under the rock, a liitle research on your part and not parotting the leftist media would not make you look like such a fool.....
So let me ask you, after all that stuff, what has been exteneded by a year....go ahead, you can say it....
no more checks and balances..........we have a king now.......not a President. Like it or not the filibuster is as American as our founders intended.
But hat's over now.
The only way majority vote eliminates checks and balances is if the GOP faithful are admitting winning the Senate or POTUS at any time is an inconceivable thing. The odd thing is, they view the House as a check and balance, and it runs on a majority rule premise.
