No wander we have conflict with comments like these. It like many other things are a legal matter and we have right to petition the courts.
There is no reason for the courts to allow prolongation of clearly futile care. No matter who pays for it, it does the deceased person no good and wastes resources. The legal profession needs to be educated.

Look, either that girl is legally dead or we have been harvesting organs for transplant from legally alive people. Can't have it both ways.
Since medicine has evolved to the point that it can keep a heart beating, brain death, diagnosed by total absence of brain waves, is the definition of death. This girl has no hope. She is nothing more than a corpse with blood circulating through it.
I don't believe that her mother is prepared for, or will want to see, what happens to her daughter's body during this.
Brain death is the irreversible end of brain activity (including involuntary activity necessary to sustain life) due to total necrosis of the cerebral neurons following loss of brain oxygenation. It should not be confused with a persistent vegetative state. Patients classified as brain-dead can have their organs surgically removed for organ donation. Even after brain death, the working of the heart might continue at a slow pace, but there will be no respiratory effort.
