What an about-face!
Well, it did come from Obama, so now it's something to whine and complain bitterly about....even though they were saying the same thing just a short time ago.
that was back before the obamacare law came into being. back when health insurance rates were affordable.

I agree with the President. I would add that we each are responsible for our own needs. I should not have to shoulder any additional expense for the guy across the street from me.
His words are wise. Now Mr. President, practice what you preach in regards to how you spend tax dollars. Rather than raising taxes to cover short falls, you should cut spending to cover the short falls. How much did your nation building in Libya cost us? How much did it cost to interfere in Syria? What is it costing us to rattle the saber over the Ukraine?
What will it cost us to insure illegals rather than making E-Verify mandatory?

All the President said was that people should consider what would happen if they didnt have insurance.
He said take a look at your budget. What are you paying for cable, telephone.....to prioritize your budget. So, yes - he did say cut household spending if needed to pay for healthcare.

I would respect him more if he'd just flat out tell us all to eat cake.

The awful arrogance of this creep who has never worked for a living amazes me.

All said just days before leaving on his milti-million dollar golf vacay in Florida.

So, if you earn $700 weekly ($600 after taxes depending on whee you live) all you need to do is give up cable television, internet and cell phone to afford your health care insurance.

What a great guy!
That's a gross income of about $36,000 a year.
A Silver Plan will cost a 20 something individual about $2000 a year or 5.53% of gross income. A Bronze plan or if qualified, a catastrophic plan would cost less.

When Switzerland mandated everyone buy healthcare insurance that met a government standard, 99% of the population did so within 2 years. About 40% receive government subsidies. Unlike a percentage of the U.S. population, the Swiss culture is very risk adverse.

I am one of those people who values the potential benefits of healthcare insurance more so than cable TV, internet access and smart phones. With so many places providing wireless access, the ability to play Candy Crush, check in with my FB friends or follow the tweets does not come before taking responsibility for my own healthcare risks.

The difference is the government is trying to make sure that their programs are getting the first cut of your disposable income.

I got a better idea Barack! How about eliminating all withholding from our paychecks and we will pay our tax obligations AFTER we pay our insurance premiums and other non discretionary expenses?

Add a Democrat to your comment - but to be honest with you - your comment makes no sense because the ones with cell phones and manicures are the ones already on Medicaid, food stamps and welfare that we pay for. Those are the ones we are "howling" about. You obviously only read what you want to and apply it to what you think we are saying.

A family of 3 making $36,000/year can get health insurance for less than $100/month after subsidies. Nobody said health insurance would be free. Why are Republicans now complaining because there's no free ride?
