Clinton adviser: Independent prosecutor needed for IRS | New York Post
How is he turning against anyone ?

His argument is that an Independent investigator will do his or her job without politics. Isnt that what both sides want ?

The ultimate outrage came over the lame, intellectually insulting assertions that all of the most relevant emails have gone missing from multiple IRS computers at the same time.

Today, Judicial Watch found a federal judge who has the integrity and fortitude to seek Justice—and this isn’t his first whack at the Department of Justice either. Enter Emmet G. Sullivan, United States District Judge for the District of Columbia. Mark July 10 in RED on your calendars.

Now, “Internal Revenue Service officials will have to explain to a federal judge July 10 why the tax agency didn’t inform the court that Lois Lerner’s emails had been lost,” the Washington Examiner reports.

So, a judge can simply appoint a special prosecutor?
There are 3 different terms being thrown about these days.

1. Special Prosecutor
2. Independent Counsel
3. Special Counsel

Laws have 'changed' a bit over the years about these terms and the Investigations - it's gone to the US Supreme Court at least once that I found.

Federal government
Attorneys in the United States may be appointed/hired particularly or employed generally by different branches of the government to investigate. When appointed/hired particularly by the judicial branch to investigate and, if justified, seek indictments in a particular judicial branch case, the attorney is called special prosecutor. DOJ or Federal Judge

When appointed/hired particularly by a governmental branch or agency to investigate alleged misconduct within that branch or agency, the attorney is called independent counsel. Congress

When employed by the state or political subdivision to assist in a particular judicial branch case when the public interest so requires, the attorney is called special counsel.

The point is ..... there is a great importance attached to "independent". In other words, it's not acceptable for an entity to "investigate" itself. That's what we have seen under Team Obama - the HHS "investigates" itself. The DOJ "investigates" itself. The VA "investigates" itself. The ATF "investigates" itself. The IRS "investigates" itself. The EPA "investigates" itself. The Treasury Department "investigates" itself. The Department of Labor "investigates" itself. The Interior Department "investigates" itself. Homeland Security "investigates" itself. ICE "investigates" itself.

One or two of these might get a "pass" .... but the bucket is FULL of "investigates itself".

Looks like we might have a District Judge that says ..... ENOUGH of this nonsense.
The Eric Holder Contempt case is still in Court - the District Judge (different that the one on IRS) is NOT giving Holder a "pass" and won't dismiss the case.

Well, well, the Republicans finally have a REAL scandal, instead of continually trying to pimp out Benghazi.

There is obviously a major battle going on in the Democratic party over Hillary. For all the talk she's a done deal, there seems to be an awful lot of resistance to her and Bill coming from the left. The MSM, the mouthpiece of the left, hasn't committed one way or the either yet. Hence her loathsome mouthpieces like Lanny Davis pushing the media to fall in line. Plus they would love to defuse any coverage of the Benghazi hearings.

We'll know where the media is starting to fall when we see how vigorously they cover the next round of Benghazi hearings.

This is why you won't hear a peep from the moonbats. They loved Clinton, adored Clinton, hell I even liked some of the thing Clinton did.. So, for one of his own to come out and say that an independent prosecutor should be assigned to the IRS scandal shows that even some on the left believes it justifies an outside look. How in the world can anyone refute that? The moonbat play books responses don't it..

a) It's Bushes fault - Nope
b) attack the source - Nope, they love Clinton's administration
c) racist - Nope, has nothing to do with racism

Since this are the only 3 replies they have to anything that doesn't support their belief system this thread will remain quiet and fade off into oblivion..

BENGHAZI is a worse scandal than the IRS

People died fighting on American soil; what an embassy compound is in a foreign nation, just as it is for embassies of other nations when here. What if a bunch of yahoos attacked an embassy and killed their ambassador down on Massachusetts Avenue in DC? How would that go over here and abroad? All of the embassies are armed as they have their own small armies for security just as we do in most countries. Apparently not in BENGHAZI - the state dept refused to send more security even when asked more than once. You can watch videos on YT of congressional hearings and a whistle blower concerning the attack. They refused to send fighters there to assist.

It doesn't matter which is worse at this point as these are but two instances of this administration going over the edge. Fast and Furious is a favorite - how the hell does Obama get to yank Holder out of congressional hearings meant to find out what was going on with the govt sanctioned illegal gun sales? Can the POTUS impede "due process" as a means to cover his own two cheeks? Why aren't congress/SCUTUS performing duties they swore to which would straighten this crap out.

Does anyone think Bush would get a free pass from the press?

Even Clinton was scrutinized about his entire life from day one. The MSM ran around with him when he went for a jog, into a McDonald's - eating fries from another customer's meal - and back on to the WH. You got to know about Hope, Arkansas and his family/friends. They bashed the hell out of him when it came to infidelities and Billary watched silently and stood by Bill.

Which brings her into the scandals. She said aloud one of the most famous quotes of the early 21st century. "What difference does it make?" will be remembered forever until the government achieves the ability to alter the past. She pushed the fake video narrative Susan Rice described on 5 Sunday political talk shows - I personally saw 4 - and defends her to this day. Why did she step down as Secretary? Too much heat in the cabinet or too dangerous?

She, easier than most, could topple Obama but...why?

It is not an embassy. It is not American soil. It was apparently a front for the CIA. The annex was in fact heavily armed. The two that got killed there were manning a heavy machine gun on the annex roof.

The guy responsible for at least two of the deaths was the Ambassador who choose to be there. In the entire world he probably had the best knowledge of the situation in Benghazi and the risk.

The thing was clearly an armed attack from instant one. Mobs don't have truck mounted armament which was announced in the first reports. Susan Rice was speaking spook...and the spooks have to this day never revealed what was actually going down in Benghazi.

I'm so shocked that 4 Americans would have been killed in the Middle East. I thought they were so peaceful, and enjoyed our company!

Thanks, I appreciate the explanation. Looks to me like special prosecutor is the way to go.
