That would have tipped their hand. Imagine the damage 500 disgruntled employees could do.

First they will need to take out/ relocate the inventory.

C'mon. We all know the 6 were built on ancient Indian Burial grounds and they are haunted.

My other choice, and this is for you libs out there, is that they are going to re-open as pot super centers putting all of the "mom and pop" small pot stores out of business.

This in an interesting insight into the minds of conspiracy theorists. Safeway closed a bunch of "lower-performing" stores a while back. Why the same stores on the same day, LOL! It seems to me this was a normal business decision.

Their employees would not have known if they had applied for permits. And even if they did, getting permits to repair plumbing would not make them think that the store was closing since Walmart often keep stores open throughout complete remodels and expansions.

What makes you think that this is a "conspiracy theory"?

Unless there were major asbestos issues, which I highly doubt, retailers do not close stores temporarily, nor do they pay the employees 2 months pay in a situation like this. Walmart permanently closed a store in Canada because of unionization.
All but one store are in Right to Work states.

If these stores were being actively organized, unions would be at the forefront of communication.

Beneath the floors and within the walls at floor level would be more likely. Standing water always seeks the lowest level.
